Rocky Flintoff

He didn’t bowl in the u19 match the other week?
He's not any bowling records in recent matches on Cricinfo.

Think his older brother is more of a bowler and he's more of a batsman. But both labelled as all rounders.

Not a chance he'll play.

He'd have to replace Stokes or Brook to get in the side. That's not happening in a million years.

Taking him as one of the touring party wouldn't surprise me as they've took a punt with both Rehan and Bashir.

Aye. Then when the series is over after the 4th test he will play in the 5th

Saw him in the nets yesterday, he is like his dad, very solid build! The sound when he was batting off the bat was great, flushing it every ball

Made his debut in the One Day cup yesterday and became Lancashire's youngest player to do so.

Made 12 before he was stumped.

And followed with 13 and 8. As Lancs look about to lose their fourth game in as many matches.

I think the OP is very much wrong with their hunch on him making the Ashes squad.

Liam Botham the Second.

He won't even make first class cricket.

Be gone and forgotten in 2 years time.

He really isn't that good.
I see you obviously know better than the Lancashire coaches who feel he is good enough to play List-A cricket at 16.

Far too early to judge. The important thing is to distance him from his father.

Getting into the team at 16 is quite an achievement but he's not going to be the finished article.for some time.

One of the things that they've been praising the 16-year old Minto for on the YouTube comms is his mental attitude to the game. He and Flintoff Mark 2 clearly have the physical attributes, but hammering/terrifying age-group players doesn't teach you much about the game longer-term.

It's also possible that because the Lancashire coaches know the family well and are familiar with the father's attributes that their judgement is clouded and they are unable to make a truly objective assessment. In that respect the independent observer can make a more independent assessment.
I certainly think Mustard has been promoted beyond his current ability because of his family connection. It's unfair on the youngsters involved.

Yeah that's probably all fair.

Mind in Mustard case it not just a case of needs must when we lost our backup gloveman to a change of career/early retirement.

It is needs must with Colonel jnr but would they have called him up if he'd been Joe Bloggs. Poytner,on the staff, scoring well at good club level would be a good fill in.

Glad it ain't just me.

Tom Mackintosh looked a solid player when he replaced Eckersley. I thought Mustard must be a special talent for the club to tell Mackintosh he had no future at the club. Seen nothing of that so far, he looks 2 years off the first team.

Good cricketers don't just retire to become estate agents unless they've got a chronic injury problem or been told they don't have a future in the game.

Mustard took his place in the second xi and he never got it back.

I never imagined seeing Poynter back in the Durham first team...
I've been watching Flintoff jr batting very sensibly this morning against Middlesex, 60 off 97.
