Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

We are different sides of the same coin. Do you not realise that?

I'm trying to be positive you are trying to be negative. Both are right based on our own opinions
Do you think he wants (likes) to be negative?

If there's something to be positive about I'm sure he will be.

This thread is about the striker situation and there's absolutely nothing to be positive about that.

Should have got both in as we need two.

If Mendy comes and doesn't take to the Champonship we're completely screwed.
Only if the other fella is good. Maybe Swansea have panic bought and are lumbered with a shit forward for the season. You're right it can't be just Mendy but it doesn't automatically mean it needs to be Vipotnek

What if we did and they were both shit though?

No guarantees with any signing but they absolutely have to get it right this time.

No, it doesn't need to be Vipotnek mate, but considering we wanted him last summer, but he moved to Bordeaux, I'd find it likely that we would have tried our hand again for him.

Main point being, we need two in who have some history of scoring goals. Put all our eggs in one basket on Mendy seems risky when you look at our alternatives and how last season panned out.

It depends if you have a plan or not, clearly we don’t have a plan.
Honestly mate I have no idea if there is forward plan, lot of people on here are great believers in the 5 year plan, and are quick to point out we are into the third year and so on.
I have posted a numbers of times recently that I do not believe we will sign a striker until Clark is sold, and to that end we would then see how much of the fee is to be invested in a “ fit for purpose striker”.
A few year ago , and one in one of my first posts I was ridiculed as I suggest that Speakman could not sell the club to potential signings. A great friend of mind was a chief scout for Mick Mc in his time at the club, and he told me numerous times that Speakman was not someone you would “want to sell the club to potential signings”. Think this has possibly been bourne out with potential managers as well as players. That aside Mandy appears to want to sign, so it is obviously down to the fee.

I can't answer if they'd be both shit or not. This is where the recruitment department earn their crust.

What I'm saying is, we need two strikers in and both of those need to have some history of scoring league goals to mitigate some of the risk. You're totally right, they really do have to get it right this time, but time is running out.

I agree with the Clark point, unfortunately I live in Coventry now so use them as my point of reference. When they sold Gyokeres they signed Hadji Wright and Simms who both scored 29 goals between them, plus two other first team regulars. They had obviously planned ahead. Something we seem incapable of doing.

Look at what we spent the Stewart money on, scary

Cracking post mate.

Puts Speakmans talk of always planning ahead to shame or even worse, just blatant lies.

They also finished in a lower position than they did the season before so I’m not sure what the moral of that story is.

They finished above us, we also finished in a lower position than our first season back with our strikers scoring 3 goals between them having sold our only striker then pissed money against the wall.
That wasn’t the point tho was it? It was how well Coventry prepared for losing their best player(s)…they didn’t, they went backwards.
