Blinded by the Kits ?

Personally feel like the change in playstyle has been much better than the dross we’ve played last season. Much more aggressive press and quick counters.

It’s pre season, the squads are mixed and matched. We drew with a premier league side and genuinely had a good performance against them.

Yes we all know we need a CF and if the Mendy deal is anything to go by they have been working on it.

We don’t need much else after that imo. I think people are going into this with too many pre determined ā€œthis is shiteā€ thoughts with no evidence to back it up

Also none of that squad from yesterday will ever play together like they did last night. Players play better with better players around them.

Let’s just give the lads a fair chance. I think this style of play will have us playing good stuff

There is also a whole MONTH left of the window. Can’t judge it till it’s done
Same excuses as always, what's it going to be in January, let's see where we are when the window closes in February, and then what's it going to be, let's see where we are come the end of the season, rinse and repeat.

Hemir didn’t start and will likely leave on loan.
Rusyn will likely be 3rd choice when Mendy comes in.
Ba is more than capable of performing at this level and was in his defence making his first appearance after an injury.
Hjelde is probably 3rd choice for left back and LCB.

As i’ve also said, it’s just not the same situation throwing a group of squad players together for a game and bringing the odd squad player into the first team.
Ba is nowhere near the standard required

It's just the actual reality mate, you can't judge a window half-way through, normal knowledge surely?

It's not the kit that is the stunt. It's the timings of when the kits are being released which is a stunt.

Home Kit: Week immediately after a manager signed which people weren't particularly happy with.

Away Kit: Week immediately after a defeat to Gateshead where people were moaning about the state of the squad.

It's the exactly the same with announcing basic maintenance on the stadium a week before the season tickets.

None of this is accidental it's intentional.

Watch the date of the third kit as no doubt it'll be around the transfer window closing date or after a defeat by Cardiff if that happens.
Well said.šŸ‘

Why not ?, what have we done so far, that tells you, we are ready for cardiff ?, remembering of course this is mostly the same team that finished 16th, 2 months ago, and has mostly the same people dodds and proctor, in the dugout, with a new untested in the English leagues RLBs, as head coach.. well..

Would be normal if we hadn’t seen this exact scenario unfolding for the last 18 month

It’s a complete joke. We know the areas that need attention aren’t going to be addressed already man.

Squad still crying out for a defensive midfielder aswell

 Give the dates / schedule that you think the kits should have been released under and then I'll look for vague event correlations.

I might seem unhinged, but I'll give it a go.

I'm not slating the club, I'd do exactly the same but the pre season dates were announced months ago aswell. They'll know what they're doing. Same as the manager, I wouldn't be surprised if they set the dead line to be then for that reason.

Anyone with sense, from the business side, would do the same. Money wise, releasing it before Father's Day would probably make sense though if I had to pick a date but they sold out anyway so it's not really the end of the world.

It's the people who have the mentality of, well the club released a nice shirt, give them a chance to sign some players who I think are the idiots.

With inexperience comes incompetence.

KLD has never owned a club before, he's not even had any experience of a job, nevermind a business as big as Sunderland. He's then employed Speakman who was head of Birminghams academy. Again, no experience in the day- to- day running of a club and the multiple departments that need to be overseen, but because he brought Bellingham through, he's been seen as some sort of footballing guru.

Two things worry me when it comes to our board. 1) They'll continually prattle on about promotion while they won't build a team to obtain it. There's 2 billionaires and a mega rich Uruguayan on our board, yet we struggle to accept that good players require decent fees/wages. 2) The board really don't like being flexible in their approach. It seems they've finally broke with an offer for a 30yr old striker, but even then (if reports are to be believed) we've bid less than a 1m for a player his club value at around 4/5m?...doesn't really feel like the club is going all out to get him does it?

That, along with all the shit that's gone on since the turn of the year, and then a lengthy search for a head coach that seen a number of targets turn down what should have been a golden opportunity to work at this club, and it does all point to a board that's more full of bluster and bravado, rather than the skills and mindset required to push our club on.

Snake oil salesman down the decades will no doubt be pleased with the design of it, the team on the field is shit, but oh look a brand new kit with all the nostalgia attached to it, oh, and look it's just like the one's blokes in their 40s today, had in the 1990s when they were kids.
Exactly I loved those strips in 90s had home thru to away and goalie top also, but I couldn’t give a shit now, I want the clear and obvious problems in the squad sorting out so we are at least competitive, I would take just being competitive at home!

The last away win March 29th, last home win feb 10th, those are the facts, but new kits and pink slices, if Donald and salmon slacks were still here, there would be hell on.

Squad isn't crying out for a DM if we don't play a style that needs and out and out one. Neil is being used in the 6 for the style we want to play. We need the 6 to be able to help attack aswell as defend, Neil suits that.

We are actively trying for strikers hence the mendy deal.

Not all of our business is publicised either

It’s all forgotten because it was last season but everyone involved are the same apart from the new head coach and a few players, all of which have a lot to prove and I’m far from convinced will have an impact, but ppl seem to have blind faith and are easily pleased with a new strip

This is also a squad that suits attacking football that helped us get 6th in 22/23. Beale and Dodds' tactics didn't utilise that it's no wonder we didn't perform well. RLB's tactics are very attacking and it should utilise a lot of this squad's strengths. Alan Browne is a great addition to the midfield also he makes that midfield 3 very good
