Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Nah mate, it was because we didn’t have a striker. 😂
I see the happy clappers are out in force because it is the start of the season. Was exactly the same Las year . They had soon changed by March though. Will be the same this year
That was the season we did have strikers as well, and good ones.
Stewart and Simms for the brief period they actually played and Gelhardt who was actually pretty good for us
From January we didnt
We didn’t have the Mil to spend and we had obviously written last year off. Save the money, spend it this year when we have a better chance

You’re complaining that this is taking too long for Mendy and that we’ll miss out. We won’t

You might disagree but I would much rather see us get the best possible deal for a player that we won’t miss out on rather than just give what Evers being asked so we can say we got him through the door a week earlier
At the time we were only a couple of points away from the play offs
We chased Moore for the whole of the January window. We were told he was our number 1 target
What happened

It’s tough because it depends what has been said by the person giving out the info. If it’s true he’d verbally agreed to it and that contracts were being sent out it’s likely people inside the club were saying it was done.

Remember Donald was openly telling supporters that the Dell deal was done, they can’t be blamed if they come on here and said the exact same.
A fair point

Jobe played upfront a lot and scored the same as him mind, so that's wrong.

If you want to play hoof ball and hold the ball up he's your man, that's not what the cluba are after. We want a mobile striker who is dynamic, can link p play and get in positions to score, so the complete opposite of Moore basically
I dont think Ipswich play hoofball.
Although it is good to have that option.
Remember when we played Newcastle and couldn't get past their press . The best tactic there was to keep it tight and play it long to a target man and get men around him.
We couldn't play it long because the forwards couldn't hold the ball up
No chance not at 30 years old
And there you have it

It's easy to see how people with no ambition don't progress

We are talking about the club failing to learn from mistakes.
'It made no sense' Really?
Ipswich paid about a million in wages and he helped them get 150 million by getting in the premier league . It made lots of sense to them

He was the difference between them finishing 2nd and 3rd. I disagree he would have been the difference between us finishing 2nd and 8th (where we were st the time iirc)

Not a chance for someone that age
Exactly I mean Bayern we're stupid for buying Kane.😀😀😀😃

I agree but we could have made the play offs and then you are in with a chance. Instead we gave up.

So spunk away 1 million on a loan player that is only going to get used if wecan't beat a teams press, in a league where most teams sit back against us? Do you actually think about what you're saying or just like to have a whinge for the sake of it

Again would you rather we just succumb to the demands of other clubs and pay over the odds just to 'get the deal done'?

I’d rather it took us less than 2 years to buy a serviceable striker

Well can you? For a 30 year old. Not unless we sell somebody for big money and have a bit of money to burn.
So nobody ever pays decent fees for 30 year olds.
Harry kame should have been on the scrap heap instead of going to Bayern for millions.

Decent strikers cost money even when they are older than 29.
When are we going to realise that.
The alternative is we pay about 8 million for a Simms or Stansfield but the owners won't do that either.
They are wanting someone who scores goals dirt cheap and it's not going to happen

Not a chance.
We lost the play off semi through being naive and weaker than Luton bully tactics. Not because we didn’t have a striker.

Burnley and Sheffield were always Automatics.
Agree. It was a CB crisis that did us in the end. With Batth and Ballard in that team we’d have held on in the second leg. IMO of course, well obviously never know

Gelhardt was a decent non scoring striker for us  He linked up well with Clarke, Diallo and Roberts
