People literally do that all the time. They were doing it about a couple of players we've just released. About 1 in 10 if that comes back to bite you on the arse.

Hourihane went to Ipswich with Keane but never played but ended up captain of Plymouth and then played in the Premier League with Villa is another very rare example.

Most end up playing at Gateshead or lower down.

True. This year I'm personally once again calling for zak johnson to be given a chance at least in preseason.

And Tommy Watson to come off the bench a few times would be nice.
 
I think taking him away on pre season, get a good look at how he’s developed and find another loan for him. If Dundalk want him and it works for us (development wise) then him going back to that environment makes sense. If he’s ready for a step up in standard then I’d go down that route. League 2 could be a step up.

Apologies if I’m wrong and Dundalks level is on par with league 2, not a big Irish football watcher 😂

At the moment we can't loan him out till we know how fit Alesse is imo. I still think he's better than Hjelde and Anderson, even though the latter has also vastly improved since his loan

More his injury, can’t see him being sold a few weeks after signing a new deal. We’ve numbers at CB but injuries and inexperience mean I’m a little worried that we don’t really have quality depth there. I’d love another CB and let Johnson get games at a lower level for half a season

That’s probably true. Just think we need another proven CB in the Ballard mould (easy to say harder to find I agree)
