I'm not complaining because I don't trust Speakman to find a suitable replacement for Clarke but my concern is that Clarke (or rather that arsehole Ian Harte) thinks we're being ridiculous by rejecting pennies (relatively speaking) and they start to cause ructions.

The transfer window is so warped. Everything the decision makers touch turns to shit in the modern game. Offsides, handballs, transfers, point deductions, fit and proper persons tests. Most of them have been part of the game since the 1800s. Surely it's about time we get them right?

whileclarke is over rated on here..im surprised if £18mn is too high a price...i thought thats about right ora bit low

Think there is alot of people on here and in our wider fan base don't realise what decent and sensible fella Jack Clarke is. He's a bloody good professional who loves been at Sunderland and loves playing football regularly. Jack won't be going anywhere until he's convinced it's the right move for him so I'm hopeful he'll stay around and help get us promoted. Then we can get his contract sorted out and get him paid his real worth. Don't wish Jack away, not many of his sort in the game these days.

Different era Hank, KLD's family/business lawyer doing all our deals now. Will have been dealing with huge corporation lawyers and huge amounts of money/deals for a long time so won't be intimidated by the amounts been mentioned. There will be no more "little Sunderland " or " know your place in the pecking order" when clubs coming calling for our assets. Never felt more confident in my life that we won't be robbed and the deals will benefit us more than the buying club.

Hopefully marra mind the way we had Southampton trousers down owa LND used to be classic SFC regarding transfers paying inflated prices for injured players

Great post……his agent is trying to talk his transfer value down so he can talk up Jacks next contract if sold .(And hence make more money for himself)
We know he is worth far more than £18m and the ideal scenario is he stays and extends his contract here. Love to see him in the new kit.

Weren’t there initial talks about a new contract but put on hold pending new head coach?
He’s only gonna sign a deal which most on here would consider would be more than we pay.
I don’t know what he’s on now but probably up there with our top earners already.
