If his market value is that of the premiership then is it any wonder we wouldn't?
Think he may be able to get into a newly promoted team or a perennial struggler who are will to take the risk . Think he’s too predictable and will struggle against full backs who are on the whole strong and fast in the PLHe is not up to premier league football
I think he just wanted to be paid in line with the top performers in the championship. We didn't even offer him an increase in salary - just the same contract over a longer period.

I doubt that to be honest, we've provided plenty of increased terms to players and got them over the line. Even top end championship is several times our top earner, it's not really feasible as a good five or six clubs are working on in different leagues financially.
I wouldn't have thought he would mess about too much longer, like you say, his market value has far surpassed what he earns here, or what we can afford, for me, he should go and get it as long as the club is suitably compensated.
Can you evidence where the current regime have sold a player for a lot less than their worth? Thanks in advanceWe're run like a bag of shit so we'll probably sell him for two n' six plus an old knife
I think we have a pretty hard salary cap mind mate. It’s one of the reasons we couldn’t get Steward to sign a new deal.
The problem we presently have is, all our better players are fully aware they can get better wages elsewhere. At some point they will need to show flexibility over the structure
Can't even get the stewards to sign on now.I think we have a pretty hard salary cap mind mate. It’s one of the reasons we couldn’t get Steward to sign a new deal.

PSR loopholes.Teams paying £33m for players who have never featured for their parent club, £35m for players who barely contributed G/A and don't even have a permanent position and yet are reluctant to spend £18m on a young player with 24 goals & 16 assists in 2 seasons.
I don't get it.
Well I'm happy enough with that, £18m is cheap for him anyway.Alan Nixon saying no one wants to pay £18 million for Clarke and Southampton don’t want to pay the asking price
