Yeah, hence I think it needs refining

The offside stuff: the semi automated thing works well (just as quick as looking at a linesman almost), but I’d build in a margin of error to get rid of the weird ones. That will be just as quick and be more accurate

The handball rule is the problem for me, rather than VAR. Needs sorting quickly

VAR as a concept needs some work. Sending the ref to the monitor is bollocks. If there is a significant miss (not a wrong decision, a miss) then the VAR overrules. Serious foul play and the like.

Was the offside not when he was an about a foot off side when the ball first went in ?
That still is the second time the ball went in but must have been the same passage of play as it’s all happened so quick and in such close proximity.

Remember that it was supposed to step in when they'd been a clear and obvious error. Neither of these in this game have been that and supporters of VAR are saying this tournament is showing that it's now working. Not for me.

Offside can be automated, that should say

But I think the actual rules need to be clearer. Every thread on here leads to a debate about decisions. And where it’s subjective, it stays on the field. Imo

The offside is offside. It is much more black and white. There has to be a line drawn. If you say that's too tight, what happens when someone is a little bit further forwards than that? Are they now suddenly offside or do we say, we we let the other go so that's only just further so allow it? It's unfortunate but there will always be close calls. Atleast this way its consistent.
The hand ball however I can't agree with. Yes his arms out a bit, but when you run you use your arms naturally. He's a foot away from the ball and it flicks his finger. That's not handball to me and certainly not worthy of a free 1 on 1 chance from 12 yards

It is and it's the same for everyone. Hand ball is far more down to interpretation and I really don't agree with that decision

There is absolutely no way you can say for sure that’s offside, you’ve spoilt the whole point of football which is to celebrate a goal, why has it be introduced

How Has that improved the game?
