West Indies Test Series


Have tickets for the first day of the Lords test so looking forward to this. A shame Roach is out as he's a high class performer still.

In terms of the bowling attack, I think Potts and Robinson may join Anderson and Leach. Options do seem sparse at the moment with Tongue injured, Woakes with hardly any match action behind him and Carse suspended.

Pennington supposed to be getting called up

Pressure on Pope like for me, I know he gets the odd score but he just gets too many low scores and just all over the place early in innings

India next year and then Aussies do we trust him to be consistent?

I know you don’t like it but Root should be batting three to protect these other lads. Ollie Pope is not a number 3, he should be at 5 with Brook at 4. I genuinely think he’d be a world beater in that position, batting three just exposes his deficiencies way too much though.

He’s also had a shocking start to the season

I’d play him if we had space at 5. But we don’t

Absolutely spot on post, it been years and years since we had a decent number 3, Trott I think?

How many do we keep trying and failing before moving him up, last time we played these Root did bat at 3 and did well I think.

And nobody could dispute Pope better at 5 than 3?

I agree with you Pope could score a lot of runs there.

No doubt his career average at 4 as opposed to 3 will now be posted for Root.

But the team needs him at 3 at the moment

True, I think he stays at 3 though for now. Not really anyone else standing out at that position.

Pope won’t be a world beater in any position in my opinion, too many faults, he’s still a decent player

I honestly don’t see him scoring many more runs at 5

Thing is hasn’t he played over 50 tests? Can’t really be claiming we need to protect our experienced vice captain at this stage surely?

Root has done his bit for the team, just let him bat at 4. I also think he’s canny average at 3 meself, he’s certainly not a world class player there. Think he averages less than pope there

Bohannon is probably closest, got a double ton last week too

I guess they want to play Smith too, who is in form but at 4

I might be wrong but think pope averages more than root at 3, certainly close

I can’t agree with any of this. If pope doesn’t play 3 he just doesn’t get in the team
