T20 World Cup 2024

Hopefully players like Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson and Sam Hain get a good opportunity.

Hain for example averaged 96 with a strike rate of 160 in the Blast last year batting at 4 yet we continue to pick a squad full of openers.
Hain is averaging just under 50 this year as well in the blast. Scored an excellent century yesterday in the county championship. I think he has done enough to earn an opportunity.

He would have been more use than Ali at number 3 tonight I reckon!

Two tournaments too far for dad's army. The warning signs were there at the ODI WC.

One win against tier one nations out of four, one lucky rained off against Scotland. Surprised we got as far as we did tbh. Absolutely nowt coming through the ranks cos we've reduced our own competitions to a sideshow.
Don’t right off the domestic t20 mind

There are a few already mentioned on this thread who will be getting a chance in future

Moeen is 37

Bairstow is 34

Jordan is 35

Wood is 34

All the above have been great servants and won world cups with England

However time does not stop and at some stage you have to recycle the squad

They done their jobs and it’s time for a new cycle of younger players , that’s how life works

Rash and Buttler are no spring chickens either.

It’s a fair point about specialists

Not convinced Hain is international standard meself tho

I like Brook at 4

Everyone rushing to dump all the players I’d just hold fire a bit, let it settle

I’d understand if it was test cricket but a lot of these players would fetch fortunes around the world.

The main thing we need is better leadership, think you’d be amazed how much that would help

Wood is good on quick pitches, you just pick him accordingly

Jordan and Curran for me are the ones I’m not convinced by
Wood doesn’t have enough variation in his bowling for T20 and even on quick pitches goes round the park.

We probably need to cheat a bit and convert some commonwealth players to being English like we normally do. I'm sure Bedingham could have played for England if we had tried.

Why is it that virtually every thread you are on you act like this and just want to argue with people ?
1. Make up ridiculous bullshit
2. Get corrected with facts
3. Argue back with conspiracies
4. Get corrected with facts
5. Accuse the other person of being argumentative

Classic gaslighting. You must have a university degree in this, youre that good

Check tnt sports 1 Wednesday at 12 lunch time

Some young lads you may wish to recall for future series

Age doesn’t matter as much in t20 like in my view

Saw this before, I really thought we’d moved on from him

Thank you! Really wasn’t trying to argue with him just wanted some proof. Then he went off on one!

Couldn’t even get in Durham’s side a month ago!

I think age does absolutely matter in T20

Specially in the field

Nearly all tournament we were behind the clock in bowling the overs

That could easily be sharpened up

I dunno what you mean. It had nothing to do with Morgan that win

It’s like blaming Morgan for this defeat

Yep.
Morgan had installed a firm belief and winning mentality in his team and that ethos was carried forward into the immediate period after his retirement and before the rudderless malaise of the Buttler/Mott axiom crept in. The positive qualities which Morgan created has long gone unfortunately.
If you're crediting Buttler/Mott with that 2022 IT 20 win why has that leadership degenerated into the current mess? They were abmysal appointments.

I reckon most of the Indian pundits would be hard pressed to name 10 cricketers who dont play for India or in the IPL.
That's where you are wrong. They know all of the international players and the Indian players.
I did say India needed to bat first to win. I did expect England to put up more of a fight but some great bowling combined with bad decisions sent England home.

No doubt India deserved the result

For the life of me, I will never understand Buttler going for a reverse off the first ball from Axar

Then the least said about Moeen and Bairstows dismissals

After that the game was long gone

"They’ve got some fantastic spinners. Our two bowled well but in hindsight, yeah, probably should’ve bowled Moeen in our innings with the way spin was playing. But with a good score and their brilliant bowling attack it was always going to be a tough chase."

Defies belief

The bowling and captaincy cost us like, there was no scenario we were chasing 170 on that pitch against their spinners and Bumrah
