For every McKenna there's a lot of gambles that don't pay off.
We need someone to deal with with the difficulties that Speakman puts on the head coach. I think that takes experience, like a Tony Mowbray.
And we have had more than our fair share of gambles that didn’t pay off.
I’m not the most pessimistic person when it comes to the club. I just wait for things to happen and accept it. But I understand the reasoning. For years us fans have suffered failure after failure. Disappointment after disappointment. We have not had anything to properly celebrate and shout about in what seems like decades. Promotion was a small glimmer of hope for better times to come. But nothing before or after had materialised that points to more successful years in store. Successive poor owners, players and coaches/managers have beaten any hope for success in the future out of them. Once bitten twice shy. If the likes of Johnson and Parkinson weren’t able to change our fortunes around why would he be any different?
