What was the Trott stuff?
Do you think its better or worse than the 'you lot' comment that he is so disgusted and outraged at being accused of saying? Vaughan himself said he was ashamed of these tweets tbf.Certainly a little clumsy but wouldn’t say it was racist.
I don’t have a problem with the opinion, which is perfectly reasonable as regards Vaughan given that none of us know what went on in detail, but your timeline is a bit distorted.Maybe but I just thought he produced decent evidence to suggest he didn’t say it, including witnesses. I’m not really defending Vaughan as I am not a big fan. I just thought it was good he turned up and defended himself, and I thought his lawyers immediately showed how flimsy some of the claims by Rafiq were when tested under any sort of questioning
That’s the point really there was a proper investigation by law firms into all the allegations, and the evidence was scrutinized by a panel of leading British Asians. But as Rafiq didn’t get the outcome he wanted he went to the press, then was granted an MPs committee where he made all sorts of allegations again which were just taken as fact, and no scrutiny.
My view may sound slightly controversial but it’s not in my opinion, Athers in the times has wrote similar about the process, I thought the whole thing was pretty disgracefully handled and ended up with Lord Patel nearly bankrupting Yorkshire.
Id say far more idiotic. The ‘you lot’ comment he was never found guilty of either.Do you think its better or worse than the 'you lot' comment that he is so disgusted and outraged at being accused of saying? Vaughan himself said he was ashamed of these tweets tbf.

Rafiq certainly used the press, but he did so long before the Squire Patton Boggs report was produced. Indeed, if he haven’t been to the press, I doubt if the investigation would’ve been started in the first place.
The report painted a mixed picture, upholding a number of allegations of racism, but declining to find that it was institutional in that pretty meaningless modern phrase. Yorkshire then painted themselves into a corner by sitting on the report for several months, even though the ECB asked them to publish it, although the shit only really hit the fan when Cricinfo published a leaked summary that included the word “banter”. All the sponsors deserted, and all the politicians piled on, within 48 hours of that one ill judged word getting into the public domain.
Essentially, Yorkshire had a Ratner moment. If they had used some more measured language, “unacceptable but of its time” say, and if they’ve been open rather than trying to cover up, they could’ve ridden it out I suspect. But that response, in the summer of Black Lives Matter, was catastrophically inept. And in the end, the report found acts of racism, just not institutional racism. So the club are not deserving of massive sympathy in my view.
Vaughan was charged by the ECB only after the report came out. The investigation into the allegations against him was carried out as part of the ECB disciplinary process. You’re wrong to roll it up with the report process. He’s entitled to a presumption of innocence for that accusation, though it is fair comment that he has made remarks on the record that most people would see as worse.
Accused Trott of lying when he left during tours? He basically accused him of lying about having any mental health issues.
