Forthcoming gigs.

Miki Berenyi Trio tomorrow (+ Lol Tolhurst and Budgie - though sadly might not get there in time to see them)
Lol and Budgie surprisingly very good last night. Really liked it. Both drumming, occasional bass player joined them, cool film footage behind them, playing to backing track with occasional vocal. Wavered somewhere between Faithless/Massive Attack and Ministry at times.

The Christians were excellent last night. His voice is still amazing.was a bit weird though,as he took a few questions from the audience, and it got a bit cringey. Not by him,by some of the audience members.'When did yee gan barldie heeded', 'Why did you call yourself the christians',and the weirdest 'How do you feel about covid,as you all caught it'.Garry replied saying he never got it as he was really careful, and she started arguing with him saying 'you did, yous all had it' pointing to the band.He just shrugged and said this is getting a bit strange and cracked on with another song.I suppose when you ask people to ask you questions you leave yourself open to this shit.He is great crack though
Go to a Gary Numan gig , he says goodbye without the mic and that's it , apart from the songs obviously
Just song after song, no introductions or owt wouldn't have it any other way

I was there, really great gig and as you say his voice is amazing.

Yes the Geordie knacker asking loads of questions was so annoying!

The lass asking about Covid was just along from us, it was very bizarre behaviour.

He even started singing to him! What was all that about? I was cringing like fuck

Just in the airport on the way home from primavera Porto. Mixed bag this year. Justices lighting rig broke the second stage so the whole line up for that was cancelled on the second day. Apart from that I saw

Pulp (absolutely outstanding!)
The national (dependable as always)
Lana del Rey (dull as dishwater)
The last dinner party (excellent, their front woman is superb)
Pj Harvey (legendary!)
Mandy Indiana (bonkers)
Sza (bit disappointing)
Mitski ( don’t get it)

Good few late withdrawals too which was annoying. Ethel cain and lankum both pulled out on the day.

It’s a great festival though. So chilled out, apart from the cult of Lana fans!

The Eagles were immaculate at the Co-op on Saturday night. Doobie Brothers very good too.

Not fussed about the venue though. Not a patch on Leeds or Glasgow.

I was at a party once & some wifey said to me “your wife said you like live music? I’ve just been to see the Eagles & they were brilliant. Sounded exactly like the CD”. What’s the point in that?!

I have heard those kind of comments before. I even bought into that notion myself when I was younger.

But I think there's two sides to that coin.

It takes top class musicianship to perform those records to that standard. And they're top class musicians performing some very finely crafted and very memorable songs.

I think it's been an unfair criticism that's been levelled at them over the years. Take It Easy doesn't need an extended guitar solo any more than Witchy Woman needs a funky drum break.

There's nee messing. As Don put it, "just a bunch of guys with guitars", playing songs the way they were made to be played. And they're excellent at it.

I sometimes wonder if The Dude has a lot to answer for where some people's opinions of the Eagles are concerned.

I'm no big fan
I really enjoyed the long long documentary about them .It changed my thoughts on them . They're in Fleetwood mac land . Immaculate songs .If a gigs exactly like the record what's not to like yet it doesn't appeal to me .
I was at Tool along the road

just got tickets for new model army at sheffield & nottingham in november/december.
also just booked to see them in december at the melkweg in amsterdam. was going to go last year but couldn't make it. looking forward to it, always fancied going to see them abroad.
