Getting in to playing at an older age

Is there somewhere for the nigh on crippled to get a game, without the need for much fielding ?

Equivalent to the walking football gang

Played my first game in 5 weeks yesterday. We’ve had a couple rained off and another couple of weeks where I’ve been unavailable for whatever reason.

Managed my personal best score of 14, which I was absolutely over the moon with. I got bowled by their best bowler who was absolutely rapid and I had no idea how to play him.

In the field I took two catches. First one I took at gully off the third ball of their innings. The fella edged it and it came at me quick so I was delighted to hold onto it.

The second one was an absolute screamer. The ball was hit miles into the air but to a part of the field where there was no fielder. I had to sprint full pelt to get there as it was coming down and somehow I managed to slide and catch it. When I realised I’d held onto it I was in shock tbh. Was a great feeling having all the lads running over whooping and hollering.

We still lost by 6 wickets but it was a great day.

That sounds frighteningly similar to my game last week  best score for me also, hit a first six and took two catches.. but we got battered

24 runs yesterday. My highest total of the season so far. Wish I’d batted a bit further up the order.

I got out with two balls of the innings remaining trying to hoik one over extra cover but it ended up going straight into the air and the bowler took the catch.

We won by 41 runs though.

Only 4 games left. Can’t believe how quickly the season has gone.
