Will Still - Lens Manager

The last few months have been completely blown out of proportion, and that's from someone who is massively critical of the ownership and structure.

The Beale choice was shite, everyone could see that a mile off but by the time he was sacked there was virtually no chance of us making the playoffs, If we did, There would have been a clamour to keep Dodds anyway as he would have been on some miracle run to get us near. There's zero point in rushing this appointment when we are clearly working towards getting our first choice. Would people rather we appointed someone we didn't want, Just to say we have a manager in place now, ahead of the 2024/25 season?

It's dragging on this appointment, but right now, whether it was done two weeks ago or on June 1st it makes absolutely zero difference. The season was disgustingly wrote off far too soon, but that was because the Beale appointment was wrong. I'd rather they took their time now than appoint some absolute knacker just to say it's done.
Completely agree, mate. In answer to your question I genuinely do believe some would rather us rush into an appointment to get it wrong so they can whinge and moan about that as well. If they take their time and get it right, it's worth doing.

Yes and that number is utterly irrelevant as you knew they'd appointed someone until the end of the season
It's absolute bollocks
How is it irrelevant? They wrote off the entire 2nd part of last season and were happy to take the fans money while performing at an utterly pathetic level in all our remaining games. Just because they made the decision to absolutely tank the season, that makes it irrelevant how long it's taken?

There are pros and cons to every way to solve a problem, you can't just write off all of the cons as irrelevant because they told you about them beforehand

It's irrelevant because whether we like it when or not, they appointed Dodds. This 100 days nonsense is if no relevance whatsoever

We could have had the new coach already though, even using your logic. If the top target is Still and Still wants to come then it could have been sorted within days.

Other clubs seem to have a target, the target wants the job and it's sorted within a week.

We haven't head a permanent coach since Beale was sacked. Still has since managed a club, left them, been somewhere for coaching badges, popped to Norwich and back (if everything is to be believed) and still the playing staff are leaderless. What exactly is taking this long?

Incorrect, and the reasons why are known to everyone who's been viewing this thread.

There's approx 5 million reasons why Will Still wasn't realistically available to us back then.

If you're referring to having a 9 stage interview for 50 different candidates then fair enough but if it turns out to be Still, the club will just look daft for how long they've taken.
Far from it. They'll have got their No.1 target.
Why would anyone be bothered if he's appointed the day after Sheff Wed or a month later???? It makes zero difference
12k trophy is up for grabs today

🏆
Well done @Hettonlass

How do you know that? It's been mentioned on several occasions that it's down to compensation of Still not being allowed to take a job until June 1st, If he goes before then, we would pay Reims a significant compensation fee.

I'm not referring to that. If it is Still, the club have acted once knowing he's available and haven't taken that long to get it done. There are various reasons / dependencies that have added to that time also. It's not like he was just an unnatached free agent ready to go.
