Too soon for Henderson to come back?

He did lots and it looked good, he could afford to. He joined in the sports washing, he could afford not to.
His choice, my choice, he's a hypocrite.

People throw the word hypocrite around like it's the worst thing in the world when we've all done it at some point in life.

We can all afford to give money to charity too, we just decide that out own comforts are more important. He gave his time to charity too, again more than the vast majority do.

He’s on a two and a half year contract at Ajax, with a salary between £70k to £85k plus bonuses. He’s going to chuck that to join us for comparative pennies? Aye, right.

He’ll be 34 in a couple of weeks, so doesn’t exactly fit “ the model “

He’s playing in Ajax’s worst squad in decades and missed half their games since joining through injury, and he’s lost half a yard of pace.

Even his mate Southgate has said No, I don’t think so to Henderson.

Yes, he was a great young player for us and a hell of a player for Liverpool, but that boat’s sailed.

I’d prefer him not to join us irrespective of his bullshit moral posturing when it suited him.
He would be head and shoulders above anyone at the club now for driving us on to the next level. He won’t come but if he did and he played we would be a far far better team. The players around him would perform better because of him.

A hypocrite who has still done more for charity and good causes than you. These things are never as straightforward as people try to make them. If we were all condemned for any bad decision we made then the whole world would be fucked.

Yeah but you could have chosen not to be on the scale. After that it's just a case of deciding where your personal line is and if that changes for life changing money.
sure. But having watched a fight does not mean I can’t criticise the choices that Henderson made.

And the nonsense he came out with to justify it

You could argue that watching the fight is worse. A passive act that has little or no bearing on your life vs a financial decision that can secure the future for your family for generations to come.
His horrendous justifications were unforgivable mind😁

News reports all over saying Ajax are in financial problems after failing to qualify for Europe, with Henderson, Bergwijn, Berghuis, Brobbey and Sutalo likely to either be sold or released.

The model includes picking up experienced players for free - Evans, Batth, Pritchard, Dack. Henderson is head and shoulders above any of them.

I can’t think of anyone better to play alongside, and help to develop, Neil, Jobe, Rigg and Ekwah TBF.

He would have to play for virtually nothing but it would be a smart move to re establish his reputation and I think he could make an excellent manager in the future.

I could give you a list of players who would be head and shoulders above, drive us on etc. etc.

Like Henderson they also won’t be coming here, so whatever attributes he might bring they’re totally irrelevant as it’s a complete non starter.

We agree, but maybe for different reasons👍

He's got a lot more time and a lot more money than the vast majority And don't think all of that positive publicity didn't afford him extra money via additional sponsorships etc.

Also, if I was giving money to victims of gang violence every month and joining campaigns to raise awareness, if I suddenly stopped doing that and started taking extraordinary money from the Mafia and justified tried all kinds of intellectual somersaults to justify it, people might have questions.

None of them would come here. Henderson at least has some emotional tie with the area. But, I agree, he won’t be coming😁

Surely at his age and the level he's capable of playing at he can't be expecting huge wages.
Yes he's won the PL, CL played in world cups and euros but I don't see any PL clubs fighting for his signature.
His best shout now is in the championship, surely we have more chance than anyone to sign him.
I'm sure he'd be happy to come home, he doesn't need the money realistically so why not

He didn’t need the money when he went to Saudi.
He didn’t need the money when he went to Ajax for £70k-£85k a week plus bonuses.

He quite happily took the money, though.

But suddenly, some think he’ll come to us for £3 a week and a packet of Haribo ‘ cos he loves us’

Aye, right.

I love how some of our fans slag off the mags for accepting the Saudis but would happily have this sportswahing wanker here because he would improve our team.
Hypocrisy at it's best.
Just a reminder to some of why people see this differently to Joe Bloggs going to work in Saudi to earn some live changing coin or using Uber or watching boxing/F1 in Saudi.

If he didn't play for Sunderland and this was a mag player then I get the feeling that posters views on a multi millionaire making 'mistakes' like people do is OK would then be the polar opposite. It's amazing how football loyalty changes views on things and it's one reason why we take the piss out of the mags as they're one of the most blinded by loyalty lot about.
