What has Speakman done to be so hated?

Done some good stuff early on.
Academy is great , he's on top of getting players to sign new contracts.
Signed some good players early on.
The 3 teams who got promoted last year coming back down shows that probably the only way of going up and staying up is by young kids coming through and striking lucky with a few being premier quality, not by signing 27+ yr olds who definitely aren't.

However signing 4 strikers in the summer who just weren't good enough , and he should have realised this in Jan and got another in, then bringing in Beale means I wouldn't care if he went.
It's a huge summer for him to convince people he knows what he is doing.

This penny pinching?
There are threads on here about Sunderland accounts.
Careful mind. There's more I agree with than disagree with on here :D

Which part of 22/23 was a success?

Certainly not January 23.

Even summer of 22 left a lot to be desired.
Getting Mowbray in. Amad. Dan Ballard. Emergence of fringe signings from previous seasons such as Trai Hume. Securing Clarke and Roberts on Permanent deals. Simms. Ekwah.

Most importantly as league position is the only thing that matters, Finishing 6th.

The fact that he hasn’t got us even one decent striker in five transfer windows. It’s unheard of. Also he is probably the reason why a decent manager won’t come. Other than that he’s great

It appears we have a wage max that is below what's needed to land a competent striker.

Strikers that score goals consistently garner and decent pay packet...

Hate is a strong word. Not sure anyone of a sane mind would think that.

Whilst Rome wasn’t built in a day, and all football supporters want that, most balanced ones are prepared to take a back seat if they see something resembling a plan. He might have a plan, he just isn’t very good at implementing it. Furthermore, his one ‘win’ who will be sold this summer could have been spotted by a visually impaired person.

I would love to see the split on what other clubs receive if we do sell anyone. The striker thing is just absolutely mind blowing.

That was down to Tony Mowbray and in spite of the model.

Not because of it.
So anything good that happens is in spite of the model and anything bad is entirely down to the model? Who appointed Alex Neil and Tony Mowbray? You can say it’s been crap but you have to have some kind of level standard to judge it either way.

Didn't age well this thread, I think we only won a few games since it was created.

Surely we still don't have many fans left that think he is doing a good job?

Oh yes it was.

Neil the season before.
Mowbray last season.

Both highly critical of the club and the inability to recruit what they required.

neil who failed at stoke

Did mowbray bring in the players who got us 6th. No

Only set of fans who seem to hate their own club
