CC : Durham v Somerset

Somerset are a very decent outfit, but that is an absolute hiding. Brilliant result.

That 10 in a row from Stokes was absolutely filthy, he looks fitter than he has for years. He's definitely tweeked his run up and doesn't dip and much in his delivery stride.
He seems to hold onto the ball a fraction longer and looks a bit skiddier (sorry for the lack of technical term)
Bridget Christie, although I like her.
Gloucester.

Games against Somerset always feel a bit special to me as the first time I saw this fixture was at Stockton CC. I lived round the corner at the time, so got to see Hussey, Colly, Plunkett, Harmison, Caddick, Trescothick and Jayasuriya at the end of my road. Even then I felt bloody lucky to see players of that calibre at the local club.
Always liked going to Stockton to watch Durham. I remember going to one of the days for that match when Plunkett and Mark Davies put on a good partnership for the ninth of tenth wicket.

Sat here a bit gutted they’ve won this quick cos I was gonna go down tomorrow 😂 well done lads anyways. From what I managed to watch Stokes looked very dangerous with the ball, encouraging stuff

I see we've been deducted a point - what an absolute shower of shite seeing as how we won within 5 sessions.
The over rate was shite. I know we like to be paranoid about the ECB but really, we have absolutely no leg to stand on on this one. In fact, if you throw up a pitch that produces a finish in the middle of day two, you are probably quite lucky that your over rate is all you get deducted so I think we should keep our heads down here. It’s not a good plea in mitigation that the pitch was, ahem, a little bowler friendly, so we shouldn’t have to do our overs.

Must admit I've got no complaints about this point deduction. We piss around quite a lot and that was a very late finish on day 1 as well. On this occasion I'm happy to get the hit. Delighted with the win. Several can offer a lot more which in many ways is a positive. We are solid at the moment. Still annoyed we didn't win last week  .

Ffs a win in a day and a half means I have to be socialable now with the in laws for the bank holiday at the caravan thing up in Northumberland..... Franklin out

2’s at South North 👀

Can’t really complain, iirc at Lunch on Day 1 we’d only went down 23 overs so we were always chasing it.

A f***ing joy to watch this team for the last 2/3 year. Just summat else every week, watching the best cricketer in the world off the back off a knee operation just hurl down ten overs in a row with pretty much every ball making the batsman play

I'll give another shout out to Ben Raine, since Rushy left the fucker keeps making me look like an idiot for thinking it was just another signing for the sake of it.

TBF it takes 4-5 minutes for a fastbowler to bowl an over, even without any pissing about, and 25 of our 85 overs were bowled by the England captain to help him back to fitness. Do they want us to keep producing England fastbowlers or dibbly dobblers?

It's a fair point. Also got to factor in all the wickets which fell also they create breaks in the game.

It was quite noticable when somerset started their second innings the fielders were running to their positions between overs. This looked like they saw the over rate at -3 and wanted to improve that. When the wickets started to tumble they stopped doing it. So to me it looked like they thought they would take the hit on the slow over rate for the win rather than put parky on to improve the rate and maybe somerset get away and post a score

I think we’d all take that trade off every single time. 19 points instead of 20 will do me every week ;)
