CC : Durham v Somerset

The umpiring is becoming a massive concern for the game. I appreciate it's a tricky job but this guess work needs to stop. If you're not 100% sure then you don't give it and for me when you take such a time to make a decision then you're not 100% sure. This is happening far too often now and it's simply guess work from the umpires which is a huge concern for the integrity of the game. I've been saying this for several years now. If in doubt you shouldn't be guessing.

It’s a tricky job, but I cannot in any circumstance understand how they give the Clark lbw. It’s hit him infront of leg, from a right arm over the wicket bowler and he’s got a decent stride in. That just absolutely should not be given.

As for the Raine wicket, the half arsed appeal with little interest from the bowler should tell you everything you need to know. I know we’ve joked a little (with maybe a bit of truth attached) about the gamesmanship at play in this game, but on a serious note, county cricketers are still in general very honest and you often get a tell as to what they’re thinking from the way in which they appeal for wickets. So many times I’ve seen players neglect to appeal for decisions that I thought looked very much out, because they knew that there’d been a little nick onto the pad or because they appreciate it’s likely to be going over the top.

It’s not all doom and gloom, I don’t want to be accused of being biased (it won’t stop the usual suspect(s)) but there was an lbw shout earlier in our innings from Overton which I thought was a very good shout but was turned down. So clearly we benefited there.

Still, I make it 0-2 in our favour in this game and when it’s as tight as this one is looking those decisions could prove fatal.

I hope it isn’t the case.
Siddle, kept low that. Could be a good thing with a decent lead and them already 2 down

BARRY!!!!

Yes, not something you want to see when you’re 80 odd behind, nor is it good for us should Somerset start to build a lead but I do feel like it happens quite a bit with the brand new ball at CLS.

Just what the doctor ordered getting a couple before lunch.
Could be over today, 22 wickets in 4 sessions

Or they could be 300 ahead at close. Don’t say shit like that.

Big lbw shout from Raine, not given, pitched outside leg but well, y’know. Logic and that…

Last I looked earlier this morning we’d lost a few wickets for not very many so pleasantly surprised to see we ended up with a lead of nearly 100 and have them two down. Keep it going lads.

I seem to recall either his debut or very early on his Durham career a game at Guilford when we were star studded at the time. He was primarily a leggie who could hold a bat, cant quite see how he has developed into an opening bat who does not bowl
It was because of his performances. He scored more than 1000 run for several seasons and he was being talked about as a potential England player, batting.

Something happened to him down at surrey, he has come back a different player and his leg spin was always a developing talent which sadly never quite developed.

STOKESY!!!

My word, that was absolutely unplayable!!!

Lammonby c Robinson b Stokes 14.

34-3, trail by 60.

Ball appeared to swing in, but then seam away.

Somerset have promoted Davey to bat at 5… 🤔

Maybe they’re hoping he gets hit on the helmet and they can replace him with a genuine batsman 🤷‍♂️

GET THE FERK IN!!!

Umeed c Ackermann b Stokes 16

45-4, trail by 49.

Drawn into prodding a ball outside off that he should’ve left, realised too late to get out the way and guided the ball to second slip.
