You get way too upset that someone is called a nasty name. Whilst calling someone a prick is hardly big or clever, that seems to be your only retort.

“Play fair” doesn’t mean you actually ignore the entire argument.

You call every ex-cricketer, wanker, prick etc the moment they suggest anything you don’t agree with.

Not to mention never giving credit to opposition teams for good play, and of course the umpires always wankers and biased against your team as well.

This isn’t court, its not parliament, it’s not Oxford Union, it’s like a pub.

I genuinely don’t think you like sport very much. You’re not passionate about it. You like the spectacle at times. But you don’t support anyone. You are quite happy if the Mags win

That’s your choice. But others are passionate about their sport. And you don’t understand it.

So when people try offer you debate you pick certain areas and ignore,

And it seems to be the voice of fair play only counts if it’s your opinion and thats what it is an opinion.

I was debating the point in the thread above earlier with posters earlier in the evening until one certain aggressive poster arrived with his normal insults which I simply have no respect for

Well you could not be further away from the truth.

I have always played sport from early age football, cricket and now golf for 40 odd years

Not passionate about any particular team, happy for the best team in a sport playing a attractive way be it football or cricket to win a game.

If Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham or England win a game of sport playing the right way, I am happy

Never seen the need to insult or hate others supporters as sport to me about enjoyment not hate

We get it, you like fair play. That’s all very well.

But if you would be equally happy with Australia beating England because they play nice cricket, or the Mags beating Sunderland (or vice versa) then you don’t understand how others think about competitive sport

Unless it’s a massive wind up, this absolute view that “fair play trumps all” is baffling.

It’s lovely in a way, but so divorced from virtually everyone else on the planet

Do you think the same about politics?

I think that the third and four paragraphs explain a lot about the views you hold.

Which is fine, but you have to understand that they're wildly different to 99% of sports fans on the planet.

I think sport is about respect, competitiveness and giving your all for the team but at the same accepting good play from the opposition and shaking hands at the end.

The iconic exchange between Brett Lee and Flintoff at the end of the second test in 2005 is what sport is about for me two players giving their all for their side but at same time respecting the opposition.

It’s not at least for me about hating the opposition and calling and slating them at every opportunity.

I make no excuses mate for that oulook as it’s totally genuine
