He was a liability at full back. Don't know why people pretend otherwise. He ran all day long but very rarely did he stop the cross coming in, he used be a specific target for the high diagonal ball week after week because he couldn't defend it. He wouldn't play at right back ahead of Hume or Huggins and I'd only put him at left back ahead of Hjelde.

Which would have been handy right now. No one’s saying he was class, a squad player, an experienced one.
 
Would have been a ridiculous signin sorry, because he had an OK season what like 7 years ago

Just because our other ones in Jan were shite does it mean we should have got this blok

The fact you would not have kept Gooch kind of tells me you have learn absolutely nothing from this season

He'd have played well over 30 games this season

I get what you're saying mate. All I'm saying I think the club were correct in letting him go. I don't think the same can be said about Batth however. Pritchard irrelevant really as he just refused to play so for me he can get fucked. Didn't need to be like that

Because of injuries? He certainly wouldn't have played that many with people fit. You can't predict injuries.

You always get injuries, every team does, and people play everywhere

he played loads last season and we finished 6th

I dont really get what you are talking about. He has clearly been a miss

the squad is an under 23 team with no leaders. its not a computer game mate.

Think there’s even less of a case to have kept Batth tbh mate. Hardly played, injured. Looked very slow to me.

He was fortunate that yet again we were crippled with injuries. Lyndon Gooch is not a top 6 championship team full back whichever way you want to dress it up. Just because he's got more experience than others doesn't make him a better player. I would've had him replaced as soon as we got out of league one personally.

Deary me. You sound just like Speakman. You need players like him in the squad. Danny Batth is nowhere near a top 6 centre back either.

No wonder we have had such a shit season with this attitude, I thought people had learned.

What are you going on about? :lol: :lol: Experience doesn't automatically make you a good player. Would I have signed more experience than Speakman has? Absolutely if it was my choice. Does that mean Gooch shouldn't have been let go? Absolutely not. He's the perfect example of how 'one of our own' get favourable treatment from the fans. Loves the club, works his socks off, but an extremely limited footballer. Just because he's been around a bit doesn't make him better / good enough to be a full back in this division. He isn't.

I’d say probably best not to sell unless you will replace imo. Suppose there’s issue of last yea of contract too
