Is Boro a derby?

I particularly dislike them because most of their fans have seen them win a trophy and win loads of European games.

In contrast we haven’t had a pot to piss in for years and have been in League One.
See I don’t mind them, because I think we’ve got more in common with them than the Mags. I think because I don’t live near them or work with any Boro fans, that’s probably a big factor mind.

It’s obviously a rivalry, but I definitely don’t consider it a derby. I work with a lot of boro fans as I’m based down Stockton and they’re alright for the whole. Whereas mags are majority insufferable wankers. I detest Newcastle united with every fibre of my being.

Was always a derby for me growing up, but when John Hall hired Keegan and the north east media went Newcastle crazy, it took the hatred towards Newcastle to a whole new level, then the rivalry with Boro went down massively, and has been that way ever since. Seen a few Boro fans getting interviewed at a game this season they were asked the question who do you hate the most, their answered were shared between us, Leeds & the mags, which says it all really

agreed.

In fact I’d go further and say it totally waned when they left Ayresome Park.

Think the hatred with scum went up notches after a couple of hundred attended the Gillingham relegation game. It certainly did for me as an attendee that day. Was gutted when they just about survived relegation to division 3 just after Keegan appointed.

No. I couldn't give a shite about Boro. They could win the lot & I wouldn't bat an eyelid. If the Mags did I'd be mortified. I got that knot in my stomach prior to the Cup game that I never get when we play the Mutants. It's definitely not a Derby.

It is for them.
In a way this is the problem, our derby is clearly Newcastle but we are the team they want to beat most, hence they are often way more up for this than we are. The result is about 5 or 6 wins wins against them in about 25 games and a long run of defeats at the riverside usually without scoring. Time we starting beating these more regularly, derby or not !
