Ross Stewart

The transfer secured Ross Stewart’s future, that’s what it was always about. He can retire now and not worry about what he does next. As frustrating as it was for us fans, I always got it from his point of view, as he had never been on life changing money and this transfer was his one and only chance. He got what he wanted and so did we and Southampton have been shafted.

£10m sounds like we’ve got a great deal.. however KLD has no intention of reinvesting that money into the squad, so might as well have been 50p, makes no difference to the fans
Yup a disgrace that the money wasn't reinvested.

Mostly for the incredible short sightedness shown. KLD will never be a great businessman. Given every advantage a human being could possibly have and yet is timid as a mouse.

Was win win for everyone. He gets a proper last long term contract to set his family up, we get a decent fee for an injured player where there was no guarantee if and when he came back that he'd be the same player

Everyone except Southampton! 🤣

interesting take. we sold him on the last day of the window and there hasn't been another yet.

sounds like own narrative bollocks to me
Clubs don’t just work on what cash they have at hand, they will often source a replacement with a fee based on what they expect to have. Early on in negotiations they should have been sourcing and started negotiating a replacement based on the money they expected to receive from Stewart’s sale. Hence why some transfers collapse due to the chain.

We won’t see the addons then but £8 million brilliant business

we signed him when he was injured too didn’t we
I'm sure at the time the add ons are guaranteed and weren't performance related. But if not and they get promoted then we'd get that portion. Sure it was 10 rising to 12 too.
Don't get why people are laughing.

Feel for him but at least he's got 20k a week. He wouldn't be getting that here.

People were raging the club took the money but 10 Mill for him was superb business just hope not much if any of it is tied up in appearance related clauses.
If you remember people were raging as on transfer deadline it looked like not only Ross Stewart was away but we were considering bids for Neil, Ekwah, Roberts and Clarke. They've got lucky with this deal. If he stayed fit and banging them in there's an argument we should've kept him. Hopefully the money is used to get the next level up players it was meant to.

Think most people gripe with Stewart move was injury aside we messed about with his contract so long it was only going one way. A player as important as Stewart was to us, he was on a pittance and at the time should've been sat down after the play off final and paid the going rate.
