Durham ‘100 per cent committed’ to bringing Hundred franchise to north east

Hears a few rumours recently about goings on at Durham, not sure ill be setting foot in the place again if they are True, and imagine 99% of this forum wont either

"“ are sports mad in the north east and we sell out every international we get, which is one of things they look at when awarding teams. I have no doubt if we got one as part of any expansion it would be brilliantly supported. We’ve got a following wind behind us, to say the least.”

He's in for a shock if he believes that.

I started reading that article and when Bostock mentioned the scenario if they had a "powerful backer" I thought to myself I hope he's not referring to you know who and then I get to the final paragraph and guess who is mentioned?
Absolutely disgusting.

Each yeah i get more disenfranchised from sport in general. If this goes ahead if be cancelling my membership and just sticking to local cricket.

I’ll be gutted if that comes to fruition and I imagine so will most of our players

Christ t20 matches are low key affairs st the Riverside (quoting Bumble) can you imagine what a franchise team would be like.
Less counties is the best way forwsrd fir Durham. Get the counties who consistently produce players for England via their academy better rewarded and thr ones that dont make them accountable.

this is how its going isnt it, the new format for 8 tier one counties for the women starts next year, wont be surprised to see the men follow suit, home and away games in all formats, and if Durham have Saudi money will make surrey seem like a Div 6 Village side, not for me though ill not be there

Good Friend of mine trains at Bannatynes gym almost every day, said to me he had seen Dan Ashworth going into reception last week, i said he was talking bollocks but maybe not

They have been linked with buying/investing in an IPL franchise, so I wouldn't be surprised

What have you heard?
Id heard PIF were interested in speaking to Durham

Saudis desperate to get into cricket, its a dip a toe in the water investing in a county, and a county who have been rumoured of a Hundred franchise for a while, and what makes it easier for them is were not owned or governed by our members to resist it,

PIF have been investing in factories in Boro & apparently buying out the failed EV battery factory site in blyth too, so "investing" in the region, more sports washing really though
