How come so few people turn up for midweek games?

We have to be one of the worst home supports in the country for atmosphere ratio to people their mind. 3 out of 4 stands don’t even get animated.
I’m

there is this belief that home support can energise players. It’s a theory that we left with timer park sadly
So quiet tonight you could hear some fucker whistling across the stadium for the last 10 minutes

Honestly. There’ll be old boys in here banging on about roker and at the same time blame players for not getting fired up. It’s madness. Tonight’s atmosphere was a get together for friends.

Strange argument but ...
Many reckon they can't attend home games midweek.
The reality is we don't have 40k loyal fans .
It's far easier to buy a season ticket and miss a few games than piss on buying tickets weekly .
For the record Arcas debut against West ham iirc we had 48k there midweek.
Aye, they all came along for the Argentine no-one heard of.

Give your head a shake man... we we're flying back then. Arguably the best era for many .

Comparing them to now makes you look thick - mag like

I was there, freezing cold it was, lots can’t make midweek games though and there’s a bus strike,no surprises really it was half full

It's freezing cold, we are not playing very well, there's a tornado of shite that flies around near the tunnel, no striker that's a focal point (that knows where the goal is) No holding midfielder that can also create. A manager who thinks more about biscuit selection than substitutes.

I thought it was the worst I’ve heard the SoL at this level.

But sometimes conditions create a bad atmosphere. Players need to give you something to get stuck into - especially on those days. Today there was nothing - no desire, no urgency, no excitement.

Dire.

A massive percentage of or support work in a factory . Modern shift patterns are crap for midweek games. Back in the day most people worked day shift only . Midweek games are a chore for a lot of people.
The modern shift patterns are crap fore Saturday 12 30 as well

Our support is shite vocally, numbers are up there but actual support Is shite , place was like a morgue,
Don't think there was even 25k in there tonight. Maybe 20,000.
37k your shit hole would have looked chocker

Looked about 25k there tonight. Empty seats everywhere, front of the North Stand virtually deserted and it all made for a terrible atmosphere. Team was poor but playing in front of that wouldn't have motivated them.

Going back to the Roker Park days, more often than not that was when the old place was at its best. Most of the best atmospheres I remember at Roker Park were night time games. It always felt better under the lights. A bit more magical. Have to say they are horrible now. Absolutely soul destroying again tonight.

Havay man get behind the lads no matter what day we play! Top 6 still very much there for us but everyone has to do their bit!
Hey man , i drove a 5 hour round trip in black dark & sleet and spent £40 on fuel to freeze watching an absolute pile of shit when i could have watched it on red button with a can .
If they dont fuckin frame there will be one less at midweeks before long.

Does the cold affect the amount of people attending, surely people buy tickets in advance 99% of the time these days?
Yes but season ticket holders for example don’t always turn up, for whatever reason. I did tonight but wish I hadn’t, horrible weather, game and result. 37,000 crowd was reported but it didn’t look that many to me.
