Forthcoming gigs.

It's like this every gig, man! You've not been paying attention. Must be the slowest venue in the world at letting folk in.
I was at the Charlatans on Friday and I’ve been to countless gigs over the years at the City Hall and I’ve never seen queues like tonight..i mean i wasn’t early or owt..Living Colour were on when i got in.

I couldn't bear that support band, mind. I gave them two songs after the Hendrix cover and had to go to the basement bar to get away from it. Couldn't hear the singer at all, the music was so overpoweringly loud.

Really enjoyed Extreme, as always.

I've been to City Hall loads of times as well and I really didn't think the queue was any different to normal. It always loops round two sides of the building then back in itself and along to outside the Unite offices. I arrived at 6.50 (mistimed it) and was inside by 7.10.

Queues were far worse than normal. Mind you worth it in the end as Extreme put on an excellent show well supported by Living Colour
I enjoyed Extreme..wouldn’t say they blew me socks off or owt like that but they’re good at what they do..Bettencourt is something else like.

Saw Hooton Tennis Club are doing a one-off local gig in Futureyard (Birkenhead) end of January, picked up a few tickets. Think possibly only @James will remember these

I found my HTC t-shirt the other week actually. First record was a banger. Second had its moments too.

I'd be up for going to that but I don't think I can make that date.
Think the tickets were £13 or something, can't argue with that. Looking forward to it, used to love the first album back in the day.

Never seen queues like this at the City Hall in my life..I’m opposite Wetherspoon and the queues going the wrong way!!
Was definitely an issue with the Queueing - Living Colour were due on @19:30pm but due to the issues outside were delayed at least half an hour and had to cut their set short slightly which was disappointing - that being said Extreme were great. Gary Cherone is a good front man and Nuno is well… Just Nuno 🤘

Yeah..like i say I’ve never seen that before at the City Hall..the queue was right up the side of the building and doubled back on itself.

Definitely -- I'm off to see him next week -- Only really listened to Talking with the Taxman -- and a few other "best of" -- so got my hands on the Roaring 40 album..most of which make up the set list next week . . Be having a few listens before I go to make it more enjoyable

Looks like a good night on Friday. 40 minute 'history of' film as 'support' (7:30 start) and then a straight 2 hours of Uncle Bill and a couple of sidekicks.

Never understand why people want to see a set list before they go. For me, knowing the liklihood of each song before they're played takes away the excitememt and spontaneity that makes live music.
Most of the bands I see, I don’t have great knowledge of their back catalogue. Billy Bragg being a prime example. Alabama3 last week. Don’t think there’ll be many disagree that it’s a lot more enjoyable listening to a set of songs you’re familiar with as opposed to hearing stuff for the first time.

I dint study the set list & memorise it. However it can come in handy if you’re looking for a good chance to nip for a piss or pint.

If Oasis/Beatles/Pogues/Clash were to reform tomorrow I wouldn’t look at the set list, I know them all inside out anyway.
So I’ve discovered Way Over Yonder In a Minor Quay cos of looking a previous set lists. As mentioned, my knowledge of Billy Bragg is limited, but I’ve discovered a complete cracker there. Whether I’d have noticed it in a set list of songs I’d not heard previously is debatable.

WE arrived at 18.55 and queue was already round the block to where the Civic Centre is, a bloke came out and reshuffled the queue bang on 19.00. The queue moved quickly once it started moving and we were inside, coats in cloak room and drinks in hand by 19.30.

Living Colour were absolutely superb and really got the crowd going, I was proper delighted to be able to see Will Calhoun on drums but Vernon Reid is an unbelievable guitarist and Doug Wimbish is a proper legend in some circles - hence the hip hop medley which was mint.

Extreme were amazing. Way better than last time I saw them, they've really honed their craft. Musically note perfect, Cherone gave a great performance but struggles a little vocally (he always did in fairness). Set list was brilliantly chosen covering all six albums. That's the best gig I've ever been to at the City Hall, only slightly marred by the dirty get next to me who kept farting absolute mingers and then developed cancer inducing halitosis. He was absolutely stinking by the end but the place was full and didn't want to try and move.

Fan boy moment when checking into the Crowne Plaza (look at me etc) - Gary Cherone sitting in the reception gave a nod and a smile, I turned to see Nuno coming out of the lifts. There van had arrived to take them to the gig around 14.30.
