ODI World Cup

Just updated on SKY..... Adrian Holstock 4th umpire confirms..... Apparently the 3rd umpire times everyone when a wicket falls.....ODI laws do not folllow MCC laws........The batsman has to be ready to face ball within 2 minutes......according to Holstock , Matthews was already over the 2 mins when he reached crease....the strap breaking just made it worse and Bangladesh appealed.

Yet Kohli refused a ball that had already been bowled and it got called a dead ball, no problems, no complaining on our part.

Not in the spirit of the game like, hopefully Bangladesh finish bottom

Is it in the spirit of the game for the batting side to take advantage of the penalty imposed on a fielding side that takes too long? There’s been several of those applied this tournament.

I’d agree with “spirit” if the helmet was the reason he was over but the fourth umpire confirms it wasn’t. He was already over. As always, like with Mankads, like with Bairstow’s stumping, “spirit of the game” always seems to be invoked to say it’s batters who shouldn’t be held to have to comply with the laws.

Be class if Bangladesh get skittled now. Hope Matthews does some daft celebrations
If we want top 8 I genuinely think we will need them to win. We won't beat Pakistan.

So we'll be relying on a win against Netherlands and NRR to sneak into 8th. If everyone ends up on 4 points at least we've got a better chance of getting 7th or 8th.

I’ve totally given up caring about England at this point. Bit of a coping mechanism.

Well I'd like the next generation not to be fucked over by these incompetent failures.

I could care less about the ones that played the last 3 games.

Hopefully we give Brook, Atkinson, Curran and Carse the chance to make their own future possible in the last two.

Yeah totally agree, everyone understandably pissed off at the moment.

But when the Champions Trophy does come around surely we all want England in it.

So I for one will still be cheering all possible results that get us there.

I know I will be will pissed off watching that tournament without us.

And sport and cricket a funny game that can turn quickly, qualify for it and no reason why can’t win it when it comes around

Very good points made. This World Cup has just done my head in, I can’t help but go into games with hope and continue even when we’re 6-7 down. Yet I still end up watching the games and having hope once it starts.

Hopefully we do so big changes in the squad for the next games and more-so after the tournament.

Can't see it happening though with the central contracts

Yeah sport can surprise people and change quickly, who would have thought, our test team would turnaround soo much after the West Indies tour, or that we would win 2019 World Cup after the debacle of 2015, or indeed that we would be soo soo bad in this tournament after winning it in 2019.

It may not seem like it at the moment, but still tremendously talented white ball cricketers in this country, and want to be in and possibly winning Champions Trophy.

I maybe in the minority mate and admittedly seems a bit silly to say this at the moment.

But are the players in the current squad that bad?

I suppose the answer on current form has to be yes.

But I am still puzzled how they have performed soo badly?

And still look at them maybe through biased eyes as a England supporter and can’t help thinking some of them still very good players.

Buttler, Root, Stokes for example shocking this tournament but are world class players?

Aye fair enough I Don't see why they couldn't have waited until after the tournament to sort the contracts livingstone, ali shouldn't play again and woakes as well and others

Woakes has played well last couple of games and was player of series in ashes. Probably deserved one but not sure why he got a 2 year one same as some others.
