Another mag meltdown last night. Come on the thread to derail it by making snidey comments about our stadium, and ended up crying like a bairn.

Agree with this and yet personally want devolution. We would have to get a fair deal.My biggest concern at the moment is this new combined mayor, we fell miles behind when tyneside devel corp was set up (TWDC) and most of the money was funnelled into Newcastle
So any stadium expansion would have to be postponed until after 2028 as a consequence.Correct, it is not confirmed that we will expand the stadium before the Euros nor is any new capacity decided. Also if we expand the stadium that would mean that we would have to demolish or move the fanzone (which itself is not built yet)
At the end of the day SJP was selected because of what it can offer right now not some possible future state.
Not necessarily. But if they start an expansion they would have to finish it before the tournament beginsSo any stadium expansion would have to be postponed until after 2028 as a consequence.
Remember that, it was pretty poorly attended everywhere.Let's hope this time the games aren't played in front of half empty stadiums as was the case in 1996 (Wembley excepted). For one game (think it was Bulgaria v Romania at Sid James) there was about 15000 max.
I'd say it will still be built. The unionists want to veto any extra spending but the money is coming from the UK government anyway so they can do nothing about it. It should have been built a long time ago when funding was allotted to upgrade a stadium each for rugby, football and GAA. Now surprise surprise the costs have spiralled. The Irish government might stump up some of the shortfall as a goodwill gesture but it would be a bit of a disaster if Northern Ireland missed out on hosting games because a stadium couldn't be constructed in 5 years! It would be great for Belfast.Casement Park is looking in serious doubt. Shame the club are being proactive about any SOL redevelopment
Villa park is only 42 k isn’t it?All stadiums other than Belfast over 50k in capacity so I dont think it’s too much of an injustice we missed out.
1. Wembley Stadium (London) (capacity 90,652)
2. Principality Stadium (Cardiff) (73,952)
3. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) (62,322)
4. Etihad Stadium (Manchester) (61,000)
5. Everton Stadium (Liverpool) (52,679)
6. St James' Park (Newcastle) (52,305)
7. Villa Park (Birmingham) (52,190)
8. Hampden Park (Glasgow) (52,032)
9. Aviva Stadium (Dublin) (51,711)
10. Casement Park (Belfast) (34,500)
Mind I went to a Euro 96 game at Sid James’ and there can’t have been any more than 20k there.
going to 52Villa park is only 42 k isn’t it?
YesThat was my 1st thought looking at the list, do they have plans to expand?
So is the Saudi arenaOld trafford is a shit tip
I am not obsessed by Sunderland as such. This forum does intreague me though. There is so much Bollox spouted by some on here and you are a main culprit.
When confronted all you ever have is to say that things like "we are obsessed" or "go back to your own forum" or ban us.
Literally thousands of pages about NUFC, and without exception they get hidden away in RTGs online shame dungeon ultimately. But yeah sure - it is us few NUFC fans that read it and challenge it that are obsessed.
I shall await my ban.

The GAA are a far more competent organisation in both North and South of Ireland than either of the football associations. I'd have far more faith that they would get it ready in time .Totally agree about it being brilliant for Belfast mate, but I’m not convinced they will find the cash.
I must admit, it does seem wrong that a GAA stadium is getting a major refurb for a football tournament mind. Back in March the IFA were still looking at options for Windsor Park, which would feel the better option
That was my point. Difficult to complete a stadium extension and revamp in 4.5 years when not even a feasibility study exists. Planning and construction would also be protracted in a city centre location. If it can't be done in 4.5 years as appears likely, it won't be able to start until 2028 and then won't be complete until the early 2030s. A long wait. Not necessarily. But if they start an expansion they would have to finish it before the tournament begins
