The ref (see PGMOL thread)

😂

It isn't the clearest clip but it shows the Boro player arriving late, he never looks towards the ball, he barely jumps to challenge and after he's cleaned Ballard out you see his arm going back down. IMO he's gone to do him there.

It's at the very least a booking, he doesn't challenge properly he just wipes Ballard out. Ballard's leg actually goes above their players head he's caught him so hard. Others with a good view at the game say it's an elbow. Ballard's reaction say it's an elbow.

The ref bottles it and books the pair of them.
He's definitely gone in to take Ballard out. Even Petrocelli couldn't defend that.

Don't think the ref realised until it was too late tbh according to someone I was talking to yesterday.
Didn't realise what? That he'd already booked him? If that's the case he's not fit for the job.

That said, after the first yellow, Neil was a walking time bomb. He was lucky to get away with a yellow in the first place if we're honest. He was on a tightrope after that and I had feeling he wouldn't see the game out. As it happened, he's given the referee ample opportunity to show another card. Stupidity.

I should have known just as I've rekindled me faith in him and talked him up a bit during the week he'd go and do summit stupid like that.

Apparently aye.
Tbf there were a couple of tackles after the yellow where I thought he did well to not over commit and get a second.
I don't agree with ample opportunity, I don't think the second yellow was warranted at all If we looked at consistency throughout the game.

Yep, I thought that too.

I can't comment on consistency throughout the game.... I'm not sure how many other incident there were where a player was seen to be shouting and swearing at the ref. I imagine it happens a lot, but I dunno. Neil's had a go, there's directives in place, and the ref's shown him the card. If Neil keeps his gob shut there isn't an issue.

As I said earlier, I didn't see Neil shout at the referee, because I was watching Hume going ballistic at the linesman. At first, I actually thought it was Hume who'd been shown the red. As it was, Hume walked away without a word said.

One thing I have wondered, is how many times during the game has Neil been in the referee's ear?

I'm all for not abusing refs but it was nowt, it was swearing but happens in every game in every league.
Just a shame it spoiled the game.
Same bloke sent someone off for aggressive running apparently ffs 😂

 Did he? Send the bugger back to Australia for me like.

Was it nowt though? He turns to the ref, comes marching towards him, and he's shouting and swearing at him. He's on a yellow to start with, it's stupidity. He's given the referee the opportunity.

Any video of the Ballard incident? From the South Stand it looked nasty. Any comments in Sky?

Is it not fair to say top footballers should think before approaching and shouting at a ref while on a yellow card.

I think it’s more than fair to expect players not to do that
Should refs stand smirking after a player has just been fouled ? Greenwood on Seelt early 2nd half

I know I'm in the minority mate, but Neil keeps his gob shut, he doesn't get booked.
Tell me I'm wrong, and why?
If a player doesn't foul Clarke he won't get booked. If he does foul Clarke he won't get booked. No idea what happened with Dan Neil but it was cleared what happened to Jack Clarke. Tell me if I'm wrong and how I'm wrong.
No we don't agree.
He didn't make a mistake in giving DN a second yellow. It is one of the few things he got right.

He was absolutely shite, but that decision was correct. That's what makes it f***ing worse for all of us. He got nearly everything else wrong.

Greenwood should have been gone before he scored.
Luke was lucky not to give a pen away for the push in the back.
And on, and on, on for, for both sides. He was shit. There was so much he got wrong.

But the decision that ruined the game, he got right.
From my position in the South Stand I can't comment. What happened to make it a correct decision?

No of course not
The bloke is a prick snd shouldn't referee again.
It’s stupid comments like that, that makes me continue to post about refs on here.

It not when you pissed or in the heat of the moment it’s 12.30 on a Monday

You and I have not idea whatsoever how he has performed in 99% of his games.

But he should be sacked and never ref again because of one bad game we witnessed?

Lol. I'm still angry I guess!
He was useless. I don't want him refereeing one of our games again.
