The ref (see PGMOL thread)

'Unprecedented'. Ha'way man. Your knowledge will not even scrape the barrel of the amount of football matches that have been played throughout time. Of course it's happened before. Loads of times.
Even this ref has done it before. He gave a Wolves player a second yellow for dissent last season.

There wouldn’t be one single Sunderland fan complaining about the ref had it been a Boro player receiving a second yellow for dissent - not one. FACT. In fact Dan Neil was extremely fortunate to be still on the field for the first offence which would very often be a straight red for endangering an opponent. The fact it didn’t make full contact is irrelevant. For anyone who doesn’t know the rules of football see below

I'm talking about the spineless referees who are clearly not up to the job and are simply arrogant.

Bairns in the park doing Sunday league is different and the decisions don't matter really.

Meanwhile in the professional world, the officials give this as a foul.... completely thick as mince.

If I put up a link of a forward missing a open goal, does that make all forwards shit!

Or just that forward? in that particular instance?

Forwards missing chances is part of the game.

The players performances on the day relative to the performances of the opposition is literally the point of the sport, or indeed any sport. That is literally what determines who wins

Referees are meant to get things correct. They’re just there to oversee, not to contribute to the result of the game with elements of randomness/errors/corruption

Ridiculous comparison

I agree that refereeing is a difficult job. There will always be an issue with conscious and unconscious bias. With Clarke yesterday the referee had probably decided before the game that Clarke goes down to easily. Hence why there were no bookings.

To improve the standings of referees they need to be held accountable for their standards. It would benefit referees and fans for a report was published after the game cover key decisions, with each team allowed to a 1 question each.

See - obsessed with other sports @Voice of fair play

This is football mate, not cricket or rugby.

It matters more than other sports.

That’s a total insult to rugby fans supporting the Lions in New Zealand or cricket fans in Australia for The Ashes.

‘Football matters more than other sports’

Does it fuck, each sport matters equally to the passionate supporters of that sport

How can you get that rangers dive wrong from 5 yards away Rob?

They give it because they're spineless and scared it'll result in a goal so go for the easy option of giving the defending side a free kick.

Absolute jokers.

What you still fail to grasp is the more examples you get furious about of officials f***ing up proves me point about the job rather than you point. So you just keep posting them and complaining about them and one day the lightbulb moment in you head might just happen

Referees should be forced to make a statement after every game to the clubs and fans. Put the little weasels under the spotlight in front of the people who’s weekend they spoil

Additionally every refereeing performance should be assessed in minute detail each week by an independent panel. Too many shit ratings and you should be struck off

How can they get the rangers foul wrong? The linesman is 5 yards away.

'Difficult job' doesn't wash. He's looking straight at it. Complete bottle jobs as usual. They're laughably bad.

You talk shit

Typical ridiculous example of football culture, zero responsibility for their own actions, sportsman in other sports get frustrated but remain disciplined and professional because their team members, fans and club depend on them to be,

Where of course in football it’s always somebody’s else’s fault normally the ref!

Already said countless times it was a harsh decision.

I agree, it's ridiculous that a professional person, who is well paid to do a job, takes absolutely no responsibility when they get that job completely wrong.

Only in football culture could somebody get their job so wrong and be completely immune from criticism for it, to the point where they can punish someone for daring to question it!

Also I'm not an expert on the rules, but many on this thread have pointed out that the ref didn't follow the rules of the game, as it should have been a talking to (as common sense would suggest) and not a card. If that's true it's not a harsh decision as you so heroically accept, it's just wrong.

There’s not enough hours to the day to analyse that tosspot’s performance yesterday

Just more waffle without an ounce of thought put into it. How many times have you posted similar? Thats just on the games you have seen to. How many more must you have missed? When it is going to finally click it's not as easy and obvious as you think? How many more times has it got to happen?

It’s not ridiculous at all, refs mistakes are part of the game in the same way, always has been.

Anyone who can’t see after watching football for anytime that refs will make mistakes and that decisions will of course by very nature effect the result are incredibly naive.

When can you ever remember refs not making mistakes, or their mistakes not contributing to result of the game?

It’s impossible for refs not to contribute to the result of the game it’s the nature of the job FFS

Are you saying giving that as a free kick is acceptable? With officials 5 yards away?

What has he seen Rob? Has he invented a foul? Or is he scared incase it leads to a goal?
