County Cricket 2023

Middlesex declaration seems moronic(unless rain forecast)

Giving Notts 58 overs to score 207 when they need to win.

Lancs 107 ahead of Kent with 3 wickets left.

I think it’s simply because they had to set something that would prevent Notts simply dropping anchor if they got into bother. They’re down unless they win, which is looking unlikely.

It feels like Middlesex going down is poetic justice.

Kent finding the Lancashire 8th wicket pair quite tough to remove, but Notts are 63-0 so it likely won’t matter anyway.

absolutely

I'm a big believer in natural justice
although........ Notts are suddenly 6 down and still needing 51 runs

Kent Lancs is over. Drawn
7 down, 35 needed
14 overs left, so plenty of time for either result
oh lordy.... 5 runs needed and Hutton falls. Sam Robson has 4 fer.

Drama there with the scores tied, montgomery set batsman edged one to the keeper.

Ball on the full and flew into the keepers chest. Difficult chance

The fixtures by the ECB are seeded meaning that those teams at the top of div 1 get to play the lower teams twice and only the higher teams once in a14 game season.its an imbalance and unfair as it makes it harder for the likes of Surrey to go down

Cost Essex though as there only game against Surrey was rain affected.

you see, I don't think that's true.

I heard someone on the radio talking about how the ECB should make the top 4 teams play the other 5 sides in the top 6 twice the following year and the bottom 4 (including the promoted teams) once, with the same being true in reverse, so I checked the fixtures for the last two seasons and by and large the bottom sides did tend to play the top sides only once..... not always, you understand, but mostly. Making this a more formal scheduling process would certainly help make matters less arbitrary, but atm that does tend to be the overall effect

Looking forward to giving Surrey a hiding on their patch next year. I say their patch cos they'll put pressure on the ECB to only play us once and the cried off last time up here.
Harmy is calling for Surrey v Durham at the Oval to be scheduled for 10 days before the first test match of the summer. He wants to see a full strength Surrey play a full strength Durham. Sky might even bother to get out of bed to televise a CC game on those terms

If the game was scheduled to be played at Chester le Street it wouldn't just be Sky who I'd have concerns about not bothering to get out of bed.🤔

Now he's back, and before he gets banned again, congratulations to @TheRey 's lads. Whatever you think of them, they're bloody good at the greatest domestic cricket competition in the world

Thanks man. Essex had me worried for a while, I won't lie:lol:

Also I've been banned a few times, but that was the most ridiculous. Was a month's ban for posing a link, from a very well known news website, about a current England international being a bad boy a few years ago
Worth a ban apparently. Mental

They just seem to like banning two of the best cricket posters on here, for some reason
