SMB Tennis thread

Great win for Gauff. Could be the first of many.

Delighted for her. She always comes across as a pretty level headed kid.
Chuffed Coco has won it, was hoping she would get a slam and for it to be the US open too :D
Osaka planning a comeback in OZ,the prospect of her, coco, swiatek, sabalenka, rybakina and jabeur fighting for the slams every time, stacked right now, especially compared to the mens where there is a top 3 right now.

Hoping Medvedev can repeat 2021 (also, just how good was he and the match against Alcaraz) final and play like he did in the semis.

Not arsed who wins this, just want a competitive Meddy v Djokovic Slam final for once. AO 2021 was a Djokovic masterclass and US Open 2021 was a Djokovic disasterclass when the moment got to him. Medvedev being there almost felt irrelevant in both matches.

Hoping they split the first two sets and see how it plays out from there.
It's really not very often at all that a set of tennis can be 10/10 entertaining without a single break of serve but that second set might have achieved it there  all it was missing was Djokovic nailing a simple overhead into the net on a decisive point.

Novak Djokovic out here volleying like prime Pete Sampras tonight.

Gutted that Friday night Medvedev didnt turn up, hopefully Alcaraz and Nadal can stop Djokovic at Australia, French, Olympics and Wimbledon next year.

Geet up there 8-) Liam Broady guaranteed to crack the top 100 for the first time in his career on Monday morning, been a win away once earlier this month and a couple of wins away in a couple of tournaments prior to that. One of the nicest blokes on the tour, well deserved!

Sky Sports' coverage will be led by presenter Gigi Salmon, alongside Tim Henman and Laura Robson who will offer their expert analysis and insights across the two tours, with Jonathan Overend on the match commentary.

Was only a week ago when Rafa was saying he might play on past 2024

Hope he wraps it in before he does his body too much damage.

Think that's the first time I've not stayed up/got up early to watch a Murray match in the Australian Open since 2013. That's maybe even worse than the Taro Daniel match a couple of years ago when he came into the tournament looking healthy and in good form but Daniel breezed past him in straights.

He always goes on about retiring so can never really read much in to it but if he keeps playing like he did in the second half of last year then the end probably is very close. If he plays the French Open then I think that might be a big sign that this year's his last. One last crack at Wimbledon and one last crack at the Olympics in singles and dubs with Jamie.

Probably a realistic chance that by the end of the year all of Federer, Nadal, Murray, Wawrinka, Cilic & del Potro are all gone and we're left with just Djokovic from the best era of tennis.

I think his up bringing by his mam to be focused and not give up may have something to do with him not retiring yet, all he has known is Tennis, abit like Lewis Hamilton and his dad. I wonder why he doesn't just stays at home and watch his kids grow up and do coaching or setting up Tennis schools etc
