Yes, class.

Wasn't sure what to expect re the new album being played. 'On record' i felt it tailed off towards the end (side two!) but the way it was delivered last night worked so well.
 

Got tickets for the Scientists at Cluny2 next month. A proper blast from the past. Loved their sound in the 80s, real swampy, Cramps racket. Saw them in 1984 supporting New Order. where they got booed by the really trendy audience.
Never expected they’d be back!

I really liked the new album bit to be honest, I liked the interactions between him on keyboards from massive attack, and Kevin. They made me chuckle. Was cringing at the fella with the baseball caps dad dancing though!

The coheadline is certainly the new business model over here. Don't know about over there? Probably seen 4-5 over the past year and it's not just the oldies either - Manics / Suede, Charlatans / Ride, Mountain Goats / Hold Steady, Manchester Orchestra / Jimmy Eat World, etc. I know the Furs toured with James a year or two back as well, but I couldn't get to that. I think it's good for the older bands - you tend to get sets crammed with "hits" presumably because each band knows a large proportion of the crowd might be there to see the other band, unlike when they're headlining and have an unknown support band opening (though Squeeze inexplicably lopped off Is That Love last night - one of my faves). Only slight negative is the extra pull it gets them - you do tend to get a few who aren't regular gig goers!

I’ve been to a couple of double headers over here - charlatans/James and happy Mondays/james . The first one I only went for the charlatans and ended up loving james and the second one I went for james and ended up thinking the Mondays were pretty good although I wouldn’t go out of my way to go see them again.

We were right and the front and the keyboard player you mentioned really did go ‘Wow!’ following the crowds reaction at the end.
 
Big moon were absolutely tremendous playing to a packed out indie.

Sounded really good too and usually im a huge critic of the sound system in independent. Not sure if that means the big moon brought their own sound man who is a wizard or if they've upgraded

Really enjoyed The Big Moon tonight, who also join a unique (at least for me...) club of being a band who I have seen in Sunlun, Boro and Newcastle. Solid set, good vibes and a coupled of twanged guitar strings!

Got me thinking.....Stiff Little Fingers, Public Service Broadcasting and The Wedding Present in those three places off the top of my head.

Rifles 100%. Possibly Little Comets for me. Nowt else, I don’t go down Boro often.
