DURHAM PROMOTED

Been watching Sussex and Leicestershire the commentators were very complimentary about Durhams chances next season and they've been singing Potts praises.. again that Durham/Newcastle thread. Cricket isn't full of tribal bullshit in this country 😉
I was a bit perplexed by the female commentator saying Ollie Robinson was quicker than Potts like. Not sure I agreed with that. The gadgie was very very much a fan of Potts though. Always great hearing our players getting praised greatly.

Article in The Times:

Nice to see some cricket being reported in the press doens't happen often if it isn't about the England team!

I noticed another story about Durham which I'counldn'y read because I'm not subscribed. But the short summary was "County’s remarkable rise from sixth place in Division Two in 2022 to runaway leaders has been down to a Bazball-type approach inspired by their Australian head coach".

I don't think that's right.

Just got in and seen thread. Fantastic news and fully deserved.
We have dominated this league from the off, scored 450 in no time in virtually every game and battled really hard to take wickets when we needed them. Congrats to the coaches, the players , Scotty B, the board ... and to us fans, the long wait for success is over...... and to the ECB .....
..... we are coming back !!

For a start there's been quite a big turnover of players with a few leaving and better ones arriving.
The bazball we've been playing has been on flat pitches, unusual for Durham and with very good slow bowling support.
Borthwick has become an effective captain.

Just saying it's more that just 'bazball', that's too simplistic as there are several factors. Having said that, without doubt, one of the main reasons for success is the arrival and impact of Campbell.

Well done Durham, shame the Superchargers couldn’t make it a Northern double but still a positive season
