I get we have strong 50 over Team going into the World Cup but surely it’s a mistake not taking Brook??
He'd have been in the first team if not for Stokes. So it's unfortunate for him Ben has come out of retirement.

At the same time if Stokes could bowl then he'd bat at 6 and you could still pick Brook. Cos Ben can't he bats 4 and you get Livingstone in as the all rounder at 6.

He'll be a travelling reserve and no doubt one of the bowlers Topley/Wood as most likely candidates pull up at some point

Brook is really a superb timer of a ball

this has been an absolute hammering by England and I love watching it as for decades we were mediocre at limited overs

nigh on perfect really tonight

and livingstone hammers the final 6 into the trap door

well played England 👏👏👏👏

Yeah it’s difficult mate as we have soo many good white ball cricketers.

But sometimes as in all sports a player comes along that is just soo good you find a place for him.

Brook is in that bracket imo

This Brook performance isn't half a middle finger to the selectors . Should never have been left out the world cup squad imo
Who do you drop though out of the 7 batsman we are taking.

Roy/Bairstow is the best opening partnership ever and Roy back in form.
Root is the perfect number 3.
Malan as backup has been sensational either opening or batting 3. Could easily replace anyone of them.
Stokes has won us 2 of the 3 finals he's played in.
Buttler captain
Livingstone is the all rounder cos stokes can't bowl second/third spin option. Very important for India.

Stokes nicked Brooks place. Stokes can't bowl so he bats 4, if he could he bats 6 and Livingstone likely gets dropped out of the squad instead.

As I already said he's no doubt a travelling reserve anyway.

All valid points. But Stokes retired, and decided he wanted to rejoin for the big stage, and it's not something I agree with as it means Brook is missing out because Stokes reversed his decision. Feel we stood a monumental chance without Stokes in all honesty. But it it wasn't for Livingstone's bowling ability in this format he'd be the obvious choice to take out

I don't disagree it seems mental to not find a way for him.

But then we wanted Stokes to come out of retirement and he's in the same catergory.

2 blokes fighting for the same point, the man who's already done it before was always going to win.

Wonder how much is IPL has factored into things. One great innings the rest were not.

Pundit raised the point about loyalty being stretched too far, very relevant tonight.

Bairstow can’t keep getting in the team because of his pre-leg break history.

I don’t buy into the “he’s an opener” or “he’s a 4”, Brook is the better batsman, if he has to open to get in the team, then he should be in ahead of Bairstow. If he has to change his game slightly then so be it.
