Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

They can inquest all they like to be fair, unless the accounts show some sizeable funds leaving the club to directors or dubious sources, what are you going to do?

All the ambition stuff is always incredibly vague about exactly what they're expecting

We're expecting a couple of centre-forwards pal. Ready to roll. No bullshit or squad fillers or youngsters just out the youth teams. No platitudes - a bit of action will suffice.

This just highlights the disparity between the teams with recent Premier League presence, and those without.

Its incredibly risky for us to likely break our wage structure for a player who has yet to return to fitness from an injury that could very easily be career changing. Especially with close to £10m on the table.

Southampton can afford to be more speculative. The transfer fee, and what is probably a modest wage within their structure, is a drop in the ocean given what they have generated in player sales (not to mention the parachute payments).

I totally understand why we are willing to flog him.

How do you know? If we got promoted why wouldn’t he stay? If we offered him enough why wouldn’t he stay?

There’s been absolutely nothing other than speculation to say he won’t sign a new deal.
Because we already haven’t done it. The relationship is gone. Even if we went up (we won’t), he will want a move

That’s pure speculation though.

He’s within his rights to weigh his options up.

I still have hope he will stay. And until we bring in an adequate replacement we have no choice.

“He” was banned during the playoffs, for calling a mod out (politely) on the piss poor way he was addressing another poster. Said ridiculous, petty ban lasted three months and ended about a week and a half ago.

Otherwise “he” would have had plenty to say about how our piss poor recruitment failings caught up with us when it mattered

should have just created another account like you did when you ditched your sweeper account

It bores me to death to say this, honestly, but we’ve signed 2 strikers so far this summer and a third sounds like they’re signing tomorrow. I’m sure they’re after a fourth if Stewart is going and the signings across the board that this recruitment team have made in the last 2 years have been brilliant. They’ve earned the trust of supporters, I’m only sorry you don’t agree.

I’m excited to see how Rusyn, Mayenda and a fully fit Hemir do over the season! Hopefully Stewart doesn’t go but if he does let’s see who they bring in to replace him! Should be an interesting 48 hours 😁

Haven’t Speakman and Mowbray pretty much said Mayenda will be a slow burner. Bit like Bennette?

He certainly hasn’t been brought in as a first team player. Hence us spending the entire summer trying to get another and Mowbray saying he wants Stewart back.

I think you and others should lower them then, we're not signing these kids to be 4th or 5th choice, that's a luxury we can't afford. Whether it's people's preference or not is immaterial, pointless getting mad at the club for holding them to a standard they aren't attempting to achieve.

Or maybe we are, we've 6 cams as it stands, I can't be sure at the minute.

It’s a massive risk.

There’s absolutely no guarantee any of those lads will be good enough this season or ever.

Stewart is in the prime of his career and has been absolutely superb for us.

I actually can’t believe how easily people are saying we should let him go.

Mowbray did, but then Mowbray has said an awful lot about our younger strikers recently. We spent the best part of a million quid on the lad I think? That doesn't scream 3 years down the line to me.

Nah, you're alright mate.

When he signed Speakman said he’s going to take some time to get up to speed (or similar words) which doesn’t suggest he’s been brought in for immediate first team duties.

It’s dampening expectations of him coming in to the side.

the record of the lads that have came in from overseas has been meh tbf, we can't afford to wait most of the season for players to get up to speed when the squad is pretty thin.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman added: “Eliezer is an exciting, quick and direct player, who's equally effective with the ball to feet or running beyond opponents. We are delighted to welcome him to Sunderland AFC and I’m sure our fans will enjoy watching him and following his journey with us. He’ll naturally need some time to adapt and integrate, but he’s full of ambition and I know how much he’s looking forward to showing everyone what he's capable of.”

Not sure what you can make of that, I'd suggest his fee would make him pencilled in for third choice?

Pointless selling Stewart unless we replace him (I’m not counting rusyin as we needed a striker anyway).

Have a feeling though it will be rusyin and about 3 loans in various positions

Hope it's a sustained period than an initial one game judgement call - akin to Hemir's experience so far as I cross these fingers and hope.
