Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Minimum of £5 million upfront, £2.5 million if theyre promotes this season plus some add ons for appearances and goals.

About the best we can hope for tbh

It shouldn't be a case of squeezing them to 10.

It should be that's the price, take it or leave it.

Its not financially viable for me if it's under £12m with add ons.
10m quid for a striker who has never played above the championship with less than a year of his deal left, off the back of a massive injury is good money. In an ideal world he wants to stay and signs a new deal and comes back as he was because he is cracking. Blackburn had this same situation minus the injury last summer for Diaz. He arguably had a better reputation than Stewart and they were getting bids of around 10m. They gambled it and it didn’t work out, not saying that’s wrong to do what they did but that’s how it went

I think Stewart is the best forward in the league, but let's remember we've only had him for 13 league games since we got promoted from L1. We need someone else in as well as Rusyn, but we aren't really taking away from our current 11, this is a chance to improve the current 11, let's hope the club take it.

It would be a great deal and a fantastic piece of business for us.

Would be silly to sell this late, weakening our own squad and improving a rival. We've seen how difficult it is to sign a replacement. Noone we have been linked to is remotely similar in his style amd strenghths

Let’s look at the factors:

-He’s in the last year of his deal.
-Hasn’t played since Feb.
-Is still injured apparently till mid-late September at earliest.
-Isn’t guaranteed to come back as effective as he was due to the nature of the injury.

Given that he’s not likely to sign a new deal, he could quite easily become majorly unsettled if he’s not allowed to leave.

If someone is offering £8m now, do people honestly believe we’d be getting near that in January?

Personally I’d say £7m rising to £8.5m - £9m on promotion would be a very fair price. They’re fairly close to that.

Doesn't matter what his actual value is tho no?
If they want him so much at least get into double figures

We have no idea what his "actual" value will be when he comes back from his injury. Injuries like that can seriously affect a player's ability in the long term. Maybe we will sell him and he comes back and bangs them in for them, but maybe we won't sell and he'll come back a shadow of his former self and then leave for nowt in the summer after achieving very little in the season. Selling him now is the safer bet.

We'll sell him friday afternoon and have absolutely f all time to bring anyone in imo
It adds to the frustration of not getting players in that are ready to improve the first team at the beginning of the season. Maybe the club weren't expecting serious bids for a player that is still injured and just returning from a potentially ability altering injury as well. At least the next ouple of days wont be boring.

What if he gets fit and scores 12 goals between now and January and then several clubs come in for him in January, could get a lot more than what your suggesting.
