Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

i think no matter what happens now this Stewart saga has buggered us now for the season.....we get £6 million....then what....if no one is already lined up then its too late

How much more do your realistically think we will get?

He has 10 months left on his deal.
Everybody knows he isn't signing.
He hasn't played for 9 months.

We aren't in a strong position
I don't know what planet some people live on.

The planet of football being wholly different to what it is seemingly.

selling non first teamers for a profit is great..its what the most successful clubs in england do..its called sustainability..
We are not Chelsea, they hoover up real talent and loan them out. There wont be a dash to take the ones Speakman has brought in on loan.

Mental if this actually happens
We've barely seen him in lsst 12 months. Its actually not a great loss and if anything allows us to develop things in the striker department.

It would have been last summer.

I know he has the qualities we need but imo im ok with parting ways if we can bring in a young bit of quality

Not a gamble money wise for Southampton but it is to pretty much make him their number 1 striker as they go for promotion. If he comes back well then he’s brilliant but it’s a risk

I will say 4m to 6m is a big jump in 24 hours. Im guessing the club are looking at replacements before going back and telling them an acceptable bid

Tin hat on, but if the basic jist of it is - we sell Stewart but land Cannon…

I’m in. Stewart is better imo, but they’ve both scored roughly the same number of goals in the Championship, so that could just be bias.

Otherwise, it’s a case of swapping an older striker, coming off a very serious long term injury, on a short contract, who fundamentally doesn’t want to be here, for a younger player, on a long-term contract, who will surely be more motivated to prove himself here.

Board would be mad not to be curious.

I'd love it if this was the case like and on paper it's probably what this model sets out to do. Seems too ideal to be true though.

With Rusyn coming in, that would mean we'd be telling either Rusyn or Cannon they're going to be second fiddle to the other - why would they come here for that? Would we pay that much for a substitute? Where would it leave Semedo - there's arguments about his ability, but he'll have more than likely been offered first team game time - if we bring two senior striker in is he going to get that?

Doesn't matter what his actual value is tho no?
If they want him so much at least get into double figures
But they know we will be desperate to get what we can at the same time. £8m is probably a third or a quarter of the clubs entire turnover for a year. They aren't going to just turn that down and lose him for free.

Unless we have two strikers lined up to come in who can immediately make an impact at first team level it doesn’t matter how much we get as it will be a pointless exercise.
