So you don't take into account the money they've got from player sales? And I believe that most clubs have clauses in their players contacts that reduces wages when they are relegated.

They’ve also brought in £130m in player scales.
Just accept that Southampton are far richer than us and we really can’t compete with them at the moment.

Just because we’re poor little Sunderland and we can’t compete for our own players at our own level, doesn’t make us pathetic. That’s harsh mate. We’re trying our best like any plucky poor little club would.

On the plus side - if we lose our best player to another club in our own league, just because we won’t pay him what he’s worth, a lot more people will wake up to what’s going on. So there’s that. Every cloud etc.

the market SAFC is in is a different market to the one southampton are in..because they have vast sums of money from multiple sources...so of course SAFC arent able to compete..

for context..KLD was able to buy sunderland for half the price southampton sold one defensive midfielder for this summer...

southsmpton arent on SAFCs level financially or in football terms..they are vastly higehr level for now..

They've just made 120 million on player sales, in addition to parachute money. They are operating on a completely different level.

No, it’s not. It’s the Championship market -where Champiknship teams (by definition) bid for Championshio players (by definition).

What’ll be a wind up, is if we let our only senior forward - arguably the best in the division - go to another club at our level because we would t pay him the market rate.

And in that context, “wind up” is putting it mildly.

The market rate for Ross Stewart at Championship level - which, by definition, is what a championship club is willing to pay him.

The market rate for your house is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. In fact, that’s the market rate for anything. That’s what a market is.

So to spell it out again - if he goes to another championship club for (by definition) the championship market rate, and we wouldn’t match it despite us being in the uniquely fortunate position of not needing to pay a transfer fee to keep him, then it’ll be very alarming and frankly disgraceful.

no it isnt..the market price for something is the aggregate price the collecitve of buyers will pay..
was the market price for will grigg really the £3mn SAFC paid..ir did SAFC pay way over the actual market price cos they were run by mugs?

If SAFC want to be sucessful..they need to not be run by mugs..
Southampton with their £150mn of player sales dont seem to be mugs..
