Just noticed the first innings tonight has taken 75 minutes.

The same length allowed for domestic T20 innings which has 20 more balls.

I thought this was meant to be quicker and was deliberately devised because the BBC wanted a shorter game for its schedules.

Technically, Blast rules require you to bowl 19 overs in 75 minutes (and be in position to start the 20th). That’s still 114 balls mind, and it’s quite rare for a side to be penalised for missing it.

That was one of the claims made by the PR team to justify the new format, was quickly rowed back when the BBC and other broadcasters called it out as total bollocks. Same happened when they claimed that no-one would show the counties and we had to have franchises.

There's still some of the 16.farce acolytes who believe and repeat it though.
