Ben Stokes post ashes series

Who loses their place for him ? He hasn't played in over a year. I get why they want him in, but there'll be players who have played ODIs for England in the past 12 months that are going to get dumped because Stokes has decided he wants to play.
Brook sadly.

Think cricinfo article said Stokes' injury is patella tendinitis and that the only thing that actually helps is to stop doing the action that causes it (in Stokes' case, bowling). Though running in general probably wont help it too much.

Was just trying to fit brook in the team to be honest
Yeah I would have him in
Buttler has played 98 of his 100 ODI innings from 5 or below and is the perfect number 5 in ODI cricket.

Roy/Bairstow are the best opening partnership ever and Root is the perfect number 3 for ODI cricket.

So it was 4 or 6 for Brook. As Ben can't bowl then he has to bat 4 and you need an batting all rounder really at 6 of which Harry is not and Livingstone is.

He's unfortunate that Stokes has decided to come back. You'd imagine Brook travelling reserve or something along with probably Archer and Ahmed/Dawson.

I think that’s all sounds good in theory.

The problem what that is that Roy is clearly not the same player he was when him and Bairstow were on top form as an opening partnership.

If he was it would not even be a debate he would play, but there is certainly a doubt that he is the same quality player he was a few years ago, quite a big doubt tbh

He's averaging 46 with a 99 SR this year. 2 absolutely class centuries against South Africa and Bangladesh.

I hope he does well mate and always been a big fan.

Just don’t think he is the same player he was 3/4 years ago.

That’s not to say he can’t be that player again, hopefully form temporary class permanent with him

It's all pretty moot. Roy was always going to be in the squad.

Our bowling is definitely the weaker side of the argument.

Despite it being largely the same players minus the biggest miss in Liam Plunkett.

all valid points....now how do we go about fitting Malan into a team where the top 5 picks itself
