ODI World Cup

Think Sam hain is massively unlucky and should be in the odi squad
He is, but then Brook and Duckett even more so.
Harsh as it sounds think I'd have left Willey out again for either another spin option or batter.
Shame Archer isnt going to be fit.

Would imagine Mo, Root and Rash would be playing every game in India so we have three. Root is a better spinner than many of the specialist options tbh.

England's provisional squad for the World Cup: Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes.

Instead of who?

He's unfortunate that Joe Root exists as he's the exact same player in a 50 over side.

I still don't get why they didn't pick him in 2021 when we had covid drop outs. Vince got picked in that number 3 spot instead and did well but was utterly pointless to try him again instead of Hain.

Correct, it just doesn't send out a good message to those who want to play 50 over domestic cricket.

It is what it is I guess.
Most countries players don't play in their domestic 50 over competition anymore.

You'll not see any Aussies in the Marsh cup for example.

Even if there wasn't the hundred I doubt you'd have seen many playing in the one day cup.

Not convinced by the Willey or Livingstone selections, Brook probably been hard done by as well.
Ben Stokes has nicked his place effectively.

Livingstone experience in India helps him fight it out with Moeen and Scrappy doo for those 6/7 spots.

I'd guess this as the team.

Roy
Bairstow
Root
Stokes
Buttler
Livingstone
Mooen
Woakes
Willey
Wood
Rashid
Could easily be Malan instead of Roy and tbh Curran more likely than Willey.

I figure Livingston will bowl too but if Rash or Mo go down we could be short of frontline spinnet

I'd assume so, read that Archer is going out as travelling reserve, unless he makes a miraculous recovery to make the squad

I think 15 is a ridiculously small number for a tournament where you play a minimum of 9 games in just over four weeks, especially tough for fast bowlers. Should be a couple more at least imho.
