If they had called it a day with that album it would've been a near perfect career, although in fairness few if any artists stop out of choice at what turns out to be the end of their peak years.

I think Reveal is very good, Immitation of Life, All the way to Reno, She just wants to be, I'll take the rain are all cracking songs IMO, think there's a few other decent songs on there as well

It is a decent album tbf and Imitation of Life is one of my top REM tunes, so I'm undermining myself here I wouldn't want to be without a few tunes from their post Berry output tbh, it was more an observation certainly with Around the Sun and the later albums were past peak REM. In fairness to them that peak was a very high benchmark that few other bands have matched.

Agreed, I still like the odd songs on the last few albums though, Electron Blue, Leaving New York, Around the Sun, Uberlin, Oh my heart, Supernatural Superserious off the top of my head.

Saw em at Tiffany’s in Newcastle pushing their third album iirc. Superb gig.
It was downhill for them all the way after Bill Berry left.
