Attendance Thread - Ipswich Town

Don't understand it myself.
I could understand it in league one and perhaps for something of the more unattractive games but it was obvious the demand would be sky high for our first game of the season.
I personally don't think so...... not with iptv so endemic within the community...I really don't think our catchment area has enough people interested in football to fill 55000 on a regular basis .,cups and derby's possibly!
Of course it does. If we were at the top of the PL, we'd be easily attracting 55k and beyond. We could sustain a 60k plus seater stadium for sure if we were in Man City's position.

no i dont not every week ! we have never been consistantly been near full capacity (allowing for away support) and im not sure what our practical true capacity is ?i know its not the 49,000 often stated and its probably (since away support in n upper)around the 47000 mark ..I really think iptv has taken its effect on supporter numbers actually wanting to go to matches. We are never going to be challenging for a top ten spot on a consistent basis with our present owners so no ...The price of building (50 -80 million would be my guess to extent south stand )work and the revenue made from 7-8 ,0000 supporters is not enough for our owners to expand the ground they will simply put up season ticket prices and make more money from that with no outlay.
Football has changed. You’re massively over egging iptv btw. Crowds across football have never been bigger, and it’s never been easier to stream a game.

If Brighton, Brentford etc can double or treble their attendances after a few seasons of success then it’s not hard to see us getting regular attendances of 50+.

You can’t look at historic stuff off 20 year ago. We’re getting bigger crowds now than we did in the prem.

Crowds have never been higher here and elsewhere, if we won the playoffs last season every PL game would have sold out next season, which we've never had at the SoL before.

Any idea of club shop opening hours this weekend? I consider myself more than competent in the ways of the World Wide Web but can’t seem to find any info…

simply dont agree mate ..there is vast room for growth / manoeuvre in brighton and Brentford a untapped resource of new fans ..Sunderland is however a whole other kettle of fish ....... we are a footballing md region which draws a lot of fans and forms a high % of those available ...we basically are near capacity and improvements on the pitch wont make that much difference !.........we will see as time is always the biggest arbiter of truth............I will be very happy to be wrong but i just cannot see our present owners extending the ground (other than adding a few extra cash cow boxes)and i certainly dont see them producing a prem team who can consistently (key word) challenge for top eight slot in the prem.

Nobody's saying we'll extend the ground.
Nobody's saying this ownership will get us consistently challenging for top eight.

Hypothetically they're saying if we were challenging let's say for top six season after season the ground would be to small, which it would be.

I can remember when the SOL first opened, it was said that we had the most female season tickets holders of any ground in England.

Some people complained that there was far too many women in the ground, so they could not swear.

I think that might have changed "when I was young and had no sense"

times change and that has been immeasurable in the 20+ years that the stadium has been open.

Its such a childish question that i was trying to bring a little realism ......its these sort of childish notions that take hold like KLD and santi are going to open there wallets at some magical point !or santi is going to bring in his father in law to the board.......or the king of them all that fekking stupid monorail fiasco and yank spendfest started by a clownshoe.

The new speedy turnstiles
"Please arrive an hour before the match to ensure you get in"

It’s more because they have been told to pour 12,000 pints of lager at 4pm and they don’t want them to go flat.

Well not with the usual bog standard relegation fighting teams we usually produce in the top division.
However with a team battling for the top 6 with big names in the side there’s no doubt we could.

..I really think iptv has taken its effect on supporter numbers actually wanting to go to matches

Attendances at every level of the game are at record levels and we're about to have a higher opening attendance in the Championship than the vast majority of Premier League years. This comment couldn't be further from the truth. Live sport has only ever served to increase interest in the game and live attendances, there's no evidence it negatively impacts attendances.

We'd be selling out every week in the Premier League in the current market.
