5th test the oval

 I’m thinking of starting next summers first test in October
We've got a 5 test series in India sometime between Jan-March. Dates still not confirmed, before then.

We've got ODI/T20 series against NZ and Ireland in September. World cup October/November and Windies ODI/T20 December to cram in too.

I’ve reported myself on the op of this as I genuinely didn’t see jarrowdiamond had started one

hopefully this will be merged into the other

sorry all
Pointless exercise now really isn't it?

Shame there was the opportunity for a deciding 5th test that could have been broadcast on terrestrial telly to sell test cricket to a bigger audience, now we've got a damp squib that changes nothing.
Not at all

there are numerous Australians that have never won in England and I want that to continue as I doubt there could be at least four who won’t get the chance to do it again

No. Drawing a series is obviously better than losing it. This whole "retaining the Ashes with a draw" thing is a nonsense I've never bought into - it's only a thing if you believe it; it isn't real. A draw is a draw, it shouldn't matter who happened to win last time.

It would be like us not bothering to celebrate that last-minute equaliser against the Mags that Gyan fluked in off his bollocks because they'd won the previous game and there was this imagined concept that somehow meant a draw was a win for them but not us.

If Anderson does play at The Oval , I very much think he will be joining numerous greats who have left the field for the last time at test level at the end of this game

Think the team will be

Crawley
Duckett
Mo
Root
Brook
Stokes
Bairstow
Woakes (if fit)
Broad
Tongue
Anderson

Apologies, I guess it matters to the cricket purists still.

As far as a wider audience goes, and those who are only partially interested in cricket (such as myself) it just feels like a non event now.

I'd always found test cricket the most boring of all forms of the game, but I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 and a half test this summer. We should have had a final deciding test, but instead the final outcome is exactly the same as if the whole 5 tests had just been rained off. All seems a bit pointless.

England v Australia in any circumstances in any form of cricket is never pointless.
Both teams will be going at it hell for leather in this test exactly the same as in the previous four.
