4th test Manchester

Not ensuring 90 overs were played on days 1 and 2 is proving even more ridiculous now
Yup. As I keep saying they should be made to stay out until all overs are bowled. Daft fines are of no use to the public paying £100+ a ticket and for a result as shown here. They do it in county cricket (weather pending), test cricket needs to do the same.

Sigh

They were 60 runs away with an hour to get out two tailenders, and we gifted them 25 extras

The declaration actually put us within a chance of winning the match, just failed to take it
It did and I agreed with it. However, if we'd batted to the end of our innings it would have ended a draw and The Ashes would still be up for grabs.

Spot on actually. Sick of this ‘should have declared’.

I’m not saying it’s on here but I tell my mates that’s an opinion of an ashes fan and not a cricket fan.

Absolutely. The declaration gave us every opportunity to win and would have done so if wasn’t for woeful catching. We couldn't win that game by batting on, needed them in bat first thing on the second morning with cloud cover where we picked up 3 wickets. Our regrets in the first test was how shit we were at catching the cricket ball.

Isn't it time lunch and tea are just gotten rid of with two breaks of fifteen minutes as and when circumstances allow during the day replacing them?
These set amounts of time for pissing meal breaks man, none the wonder the general public can become alienated with the game.

Should have been sone flexibility to play later on on days 1-3 given the very solid forecast of lots of rain day 4-5

Retractable roof would need to be huge so probably no cost/benefit. Especially as OT is more of a concert venue now.
