4th test Manchester

It’s been a good series but I think the overall standard in 2005 was higher. That was a truly great Aussie side.

If we had caught like the 2005 team we would have one hand on the Urn.
Try MCG Boxing Day 2010 when we bowled them out for less than 100. A beautiful day of cricket made all the better by the fact I was there watching their players and supporters squirming!
Must of been class mate sadly my only cricket down under was the 2006/7 white was. Though a did see a couple of cracking Colly inspired live ODI wins at the Gabba and MCG.

Also his 96 at the Gabba but it was brutal the tests overall.

Regardless of the results we seem to have had them rattled to a greater or lesser extent thoughout the series particularly with the batting approach ....we seem to have taken up residence in their heads throughout

A bit off topic, but there was some sort of incident (scrap) at the back of block 6 of the so called ‘party’stand at OT today.

The stewards waded in and it all seemed to turn a bit nasty (I’m talking cricket in 2023 nasty, not football in the 70s nasty). One lad, who I think was an innocent bystander, ended up going down the steps head first.

Did anyone see this either from being there or on social media or whatever? There were no Aussies nearby so far as I can see.

Call me a boring old twat, but the behaviour of some people in that stand over the last few days has been ridiculous. Most of us like a beer or 6, but after tea there each has been a constant hail of beer and various projectiles thrown indiscriminately, presumably from those who can’t handle said beer. It’s a cricket match, not a mosh pit FFS.

Had the cricket not been of the exceptional standard it has, it would have ruined our time at the game. I would never consider sitting there again.

Just saying, like.

And this trend of hoying beer - which happened when we won at Headingley, and again today in the party stand when we took wickets - is ridiculous. 😱

Seeing how we all turn into weather geeks on days like today, the following link is the met office rain radar…

(I’m hoping it’s brought up Manchester)

Anyway, rain appears to clear around 15:30. If that is true, we should be hopeful of atleast a session of play after that. If we’re optimistic it might blow through earlier. The pessimistic option doesn’t bare thinking about of course.

Looking at the radar it looks as though it’s moving more quickly than originally expected, fingers crossed

Met office seems to suggest a session today, whilst BBC breakfast (who no longer use the met office) reckon no chance today but probably a session tomorrow - I really hate when forecasters contradict each other, proves what I always thought about them knowing next to f*ckall in reality.

That said, perhaps best case is a further 50-55 overs in the game to take 6 wickets.

So frustrating this series,we could have easily won the first 2 tests but find ourselves 2-1 down and Australia on the brink of retaining the ashes because of the weather 🤨

Looks like they changed it back to pissing down from about 4.30pm

There’s a break in the weather between 2-4 today according to the radar, however by the time they dry the outfield it’ll be raining again.

A bit of hope tomorrow, rain starts to clear from 2pm
