It’s a really difficult one, as years ago it was natural for kids to play football in the winter and cricket in the summer, unfortunately times have changed footbal now too big and even kids play in the summer, as well as kids not going outside as much due to PlayStation’s etc. It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. Do kids get a desire to watch cricket by being introduced to playing the game I e. by taking the game into schools or by putting it on mainstream TV to attract their attenrion.
Local clubs introducing it by going into schools using the chance to shine funding is the way forwarded -perhaps free entry to T20 games for school parties. Clubs would recupe the entrance fee from refreshment sales. Only later will they gain interest in the longer form of the game
Personally I think it’s needs to be on tv and the focus on one competition in peak time with all the best players available and each game an event that all are watching, not sure that can be achieved with soo many teams in this country
However don’t think there is a magic formula, and second point certainly worth a go.
