Northern trains

My son's moving to Hexham in August so I'm gonna be travelling with Northern fairly regularly. Should I expect a reliable and efficient service?
Me Mam lives in Hexham and I stay there for home games. Never had any problems with trains. Only gets busy when we get into Central.

Plus you have get extra benefit of the Platform Bar at Hexham. Great little bar for teas, coffees, cakes and beer. I can’t vouch for the first three though.

Ahh FFS guess I'm busing it from Hartlepool as I'm down there for something on Friday and stopping over. When are they back on as I need to gan back down there on the Sunday 🤣

Are they? Is metro strike aswell? Thats the day for World Triathlon at Roker aswell.
Think metros will be fine mate. The Pelaw to South Hylton section of the line is managed by Network Rail, which was why earlier strikes affected it (even though Nexus were not part of any of the strikes). However, Network Rail settled their dispute a few months ago. The current strikes are mostly ASLEF, so drivers unions, which doesn't stop metros running. Certainly nothing in advance on Nexus's website so should be running as normal

Completely wrong. Current strikes are RMT and nothing to do with drivers

Cheers been getting asked on couple of threads, sorry about duff info.
Tbf it’s the government that are pushing it to make it look like it’s greedy drivers who are just after more money, when in actual fact theirs is a completely separate dispute about Ts and Cs. It’s just an attempt by the scumbag government to deflect from the fact that the RMT dispute is about improving pay for low paid support staff like cleaners, station staff etc. Just trying to turn public opinion against the dispute by feeding the public lies. It’s no wonder the public are confused

Were the extra services supposed to be in place for July 2023?

Just looked through this from April and it says Pool extra platform to be ready "late summer"

Yes the last estimate was September, would not surprise me if it was December timetable change

Strike days are Thursday and Saturday. You’ll be fine Fri and Sun as long as you ain’t travelling too early or late in the day.

Grand Central are running all days (as they are not on strike) but with some alterations.
