3rd test - Headingley

I agree. Much as footy and SAFC are my first love, this is not far behind. It's incredible stuff. I feel sorry for folk who don't like test cricket.

My bruv, a mate and I have got tickets for tomorrow. We are staying down after the match and I can't wait! 🏏🍺🍺😉

The 3 of us were there in 2019 when Stokes pulled off his heroics. What a day that was! 😀😀 When were leaving I said to my brother that witnessing that was only marginally behind being at Sid James's to see AJ's last minute winner.
Think the 1998 draw against the SAffers with Fraser and Crofty was the cementing moment for me . going to be fun tomorrow!

Love footy but me mates at work can't believe it when I said I choose Test Cricket all day long.
Even if you don’t go that far, and I’m not sure I entirely do, football cannot match the sustained drama of test cricket, if only for the obvious reason it is too brief.

This series has been a cracker. It’s been so up and down in each match all through. Both sides having winning positions every day so far. Has that ever been true before ? I’m not sure I can remember one quite like it. Not 2005 certainly. At most only one of those was a close fluctuating encounter.

It doesn’t necessarily lend itself to the hyperbolic swings of a football board (we’re shite, no we’re not, yes we are six times in the last hour never mind this series). But there is really nothing like it. Love it.

Aye none of my close pals are cricket fans.

One has a passing interest in the ashes but that's about it.

Work I had a few but moved departments now so just WFH all the time at the moment.

Hence I'm on here for my full on meltdown as nobody else to talk to about it.

Mind you, the cricket board has gone more extreme in it's mood swings since the Ashes started ;)

As long as it is between two fairly evenly matched sides, one sided sport matches are dull for me, but in a test match it is many many hours of dullness.
When the Aussies were crushing us every game and winning 5-0, while obviously enjoying beating us, it can't have been much of a spectacle even for them.

One young lad I work with was asking me about the early declaration in the first test and he wasn't aware you can play for 5 days and have a draw and said "what's the point of that?" and that's why I told him "That's what Stokesy is trying to eliminate"... good to educate people 8-)

Few of my mates are going down tomorrow, I didn’t dare book up as it’s our lasses birthday.

Planning on going out for breakfast, and then perhaps something for tea. That way, I’m in the house between 11-5
🤣🤣🤣

You might be able to take her for a late lunch as well, when it's all over 🤞😉.

Only one of my close pals isn't a sports fan. Rest of us football daft(mainly mags so fuck them)

He was in the car with me for day 5 of Edgbaston as we drove to glasto.

His face when I explained this was day 5 of a possible 25 was hilarious.

I don't think we realize just how influential Ben Stokes is as a cricketer. He is a one off and one of the most talented cricketers of all time. It shows numbers aren't everything. Oh and he's playing this series on one functioning knee
